Perth County Federation of Agriculture annual meeting Here are some highlights of the Annual Meeting of the Perth County Federation of Agriculture and the OFA Regional Meeting for Perth South/West. Perth North/West and Perth East held Thursday, September 30 at the Milverton Recreation Complex, Milverton. Elections for Presidents and Township Directors President — Bob Martin Vice President — Ed Danen Vice -President — Bernice Kelly Blanshard Ward Director — Kirk Rankin Downie Ward Director — Mary McIntosh North Easthope Ward Directors — Jeremy Heyer, Bill Rutherford, Ivan Stueck 2004 Young Farmers Forum set at OFA Convention The Junior Farmers Association of Ontario (JFAO) has joined with Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA) and the Canadian Young Farmers' Forum (CYFF) to present a Young Farmers Forum at the 2004 OFA Convention. This is open to all youth people ages 18 - 40 (or a JF/4-H member 15+), the Young Farmers Forum gives participants the opportunity to: • Meet and network with other young people in the agricultural industry • Gain exposure to the work of OFA, JFAO and CYFF • Discuss topics and issues that are relevant and important to young people. If you are interested in attending this forum please contact the Perth County Federation of Agriculture office for an application form. OFA Regional Meetings: Representing Perth County at the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA) Directors table and attending OFA Convention are: Perth South/West Director — Bert Vorstenbosch Perth South/West Delegates to Convention — Agnes Denham. Tim Shute, Cor VanderPryt Perth East Director — Burnell Kipfer Perth East Delegates to Convention — Larry Biesinger, Ed Danen. Resolutions: Two resolutions were passed and have been sent to OFA for consideration at Convention. 1. If anyone is interested in attending please contact the office as soon as possible. petroleum products, natural gas, etc. and Whereas, farm operations could become a source of energy production through wind energy, biodiesel production. methane production, etc. Therefore Be It Resolved, that the Ontario Federation of Agriculture be proactive in lobbying appropriate Government Ministries to provide generous support for research and implementation of energy conservation programs and alternative energy production systems that are of benefit to Ontario farmers. 2. Wind Easement Agreements Whereas many farm property owners have the potential to lease portions of their property to others for the construction of wind turbines that will produce electricity, and Whereas these wind easement agreements vary between the various companies offering them, Therefore Be It Resolved, that the Ontario Federation of Agriculture, develop and promote a set of guidelines for wind easement agreements. Remarks & Presentations John Wilkinson announced that he had been authorized by the Minister of Transportation to announce that "Slow Moving Vehicle Awareness Signs" will now be allowed to be put up on Provincial Roads.° PERTH COUNTY FEDERATION OF AGRICULTURE DIRECTORS' MEETING Thursday, November 18, 2004 — 8:00 p.m. Perth Agri -Centre, Rostock Resolutions that our delegates to convention will be asked to vote on will be discussed at this meeting.
