Rotary career edge program announced Explore careers in agriculture, horticulture and the environment at Ridgetown, Ontario August 22 to August 25, 2004. Agriculture, horticulture and the environment are being promoted to Ontario's youth by Ridgetown College, University of Guelph, and the Ridgetown Rotary Club through a program called "Rotary Career Edge". The Rotary Career Edge program is offering a 3.5 day event in late August for a maximum of 110 students entering grades I1 or 12, who are interested in exploring careers in agricultural, horticultural or environmental fields. Youth participants will be travelling to local businesses to discover Ontario's exciting and plentiful career opportunities. The program has been offered for several years each time bringing positive feedback. The registration deadline is July 23, 2004. The registration fee remains at $249 covering the costs of meals, refreshments, accommodations, and all program travel and activities. There are several options available for sponsorship: interested parties can approach their Rotary Club, agricultural or farm Farm equipment needed for EST An EST Centre (Emergency Services Training Centre) is opening in Blyth to provide bona fide training for rural fire services and rescue for all of Ontario and particularly in Huron, Bruce, Grey and Wellington counties. At present there is an urban fire training centre in Gravenhurst, but this centre will have training specific to rural living. This centre is on the south side of Blyth covering 4.5 acres and includes a farm silo and grain bins, a farm machinery rescue area, propane fire training area, auto extrication, land-based water rescue, and trench rescue.
