Advice
Still time to
register for
CAIS with
extended
deadline
To help build a strong and
prosperous economy, the federal and
Ontario governments have extended
the Ontario 2003 and 2004 Canadian
Agricultural Income Stabilization
(CAIS) program deadline to June 30.
2004.
The CAIS program will provide
much needed help for producers who
may experience losses in farm
income.
The agri-food industry plays an
important role in Ontario's economy.
therefore they are encouraging as
many Ontario farmers as possible to
have an opportunity to participate in
the new CAIS program to apply as
soon as possible.
The CAIS program allows
Ontario farmers to protect their
operations from income declines
beyond their control. CAIS directs
government funds to producers by
combining stabilization assistance
and disaster assistance into one
program.
The deadline extension means
that farmers now have an
opportunity to obtain margin
coverage for 2003 and 2004, and to
access government programs that
require enrolment in the CAIS
program.
By June 30, 2004, farmers must
complete and submit a CAIS
program application form (and any
other required forms) and deposit the
minimum account balance as
outlined in the producer's Deposit
Options Notice into their CAIS
program accounts.
For application forms and more
detailed information on the CAIS
program, visit the Ontario Ministry
of Agriculture and Food web site at

TOP DRY
HOW DOES THE
G. S. I. SYSTEM WORK?
1) Grain is loaded into the upper chamber
of the bin, and dried as a batch
2) When the grain is dry, the burner
automatically shuts off
3) The operator lowers the dump chutes
with a winch, and the grain falls to the
lower part of the bin for cooling/storage
4) The dump chutes are cranked closed
and another batch is loading into the
drying chamber
WHY IS A TOP DRY A BETTER INVESTMENT
THAN A STIRRING MACHINE?
1) LOWER OPERATING COSTS
' Uses much less fuel because it recycles cooling air through
the drying zone
• No gear boxes, motors, or bearings inside the bin
' 100% galvanized construction inside and outside
2) FASTER DRYING
* 2 to 3 times faster per horsepower than a stirring machine
because of lower grain depth (30")
