January 14, 2004 In my next life, I want to be a bear. If you're a bear, you get to hibernate. You do nothing but sleep for six months. I could deal with that. Before you hibernate, you're suppose to eat yourself stupid. I could deal with that too. If you're a bear, you birth your children (who are the size of walnuts) while you're sleeping and wake to partially grown, cute, cuddly cubs. I could definitely deal with that. If you're a mama bear, everyone knows you mean business. You swat anyone who bothers you or your cubs. If your cubs get out of line, you swat them too. I could deal with that. If you're a bear, your mate expects youto wake up growling. He expects that you will have hairy legs and excess body fat. Yup...gbnna be a bear. Producers are responsible for tagging and keeping track of all sheep and lambs 18 months or older, leaving the farm. Tags cannot be removed or tampered with. For further information, call the Canadian Sheep Federation at 1-888-684-7739. During these short winter days, some people exhibit a type of depression characterized by oversleeping, overeating, irritability and poor communication. The condition is Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and usually disappears when the days become longer. Using light therapy each morning for about half an hour can relieve these symptoms. Just get outdoors and try cross-country skiing or some snowshoeing with the kids. Bob Knowles, co-founder of the Canadian Farm Writers Federation, died in Ottawa, November 5. There is a company that is selling land there for $7 an acre. Some are wondering why President George Bush is in such a big rush to get people on Mars. Do you think maybe that he may need a place to hide out?
