So ... as the world turns and
seasons change we arrive once again
at Yuletide ... the culmination of yet
another year with all its positive,
negative and neutral events and
happenings.
Most auspicious of all, are the
decisions we are so privileged to be
able to make. These are the decisions
which influence every moment of our
days, months, years, our friends, our
businesses, our family relationships,
how we decorate our homes, the
meals we choose to cook and how we
choose to eat them, and how we
celebrate the events we incorporate
into our lives.
The choice to create our very own
lives is as unique and beautiful as the
creator who gave us this life ...
So my gentle readers, this will be
the final chapter in our energy
anatomy of the home series and the
role it plays on our psyche, but more
importantly the creative energy force
with which we choose to style our
homes and our lives.
I would like to round out this
series on energy by taking a close
look at ourselves and how we
decorate our spaces ... be it one
room, an entire home, or our office.
First I ask you to accept the fact that
each one of us is creative and unique
... this is the state in which we enter
our earthly lives, no one is exactly
like us. We are an original! Wow!
What positive power and yes,
responsibility this brings to our
decisions.
Next analyze what serves you,
what works for you and your
situation — empowering you,
energizing you and exciting you.
What makes you smile? Therein lies
the answer to the positive action that
will assist you in making any house
into the home you love, a home that
will nurture you, your family and
friends.
Unfortunately, the western
mindset often gets in our way.
Commercialism and consumerism tell
us we're out of date, style and step if
we don't buy this item or use that
colour or get on the bandwagon with
everyone else and "be the same".
Unfortunately this commercial mania
has led to many unsatisfactory and
unhappy relationships and homes,
because the very nature of
commercialism inhibits our natural
creative essence and replaces it with a
mindset of "gotta have, gotta do,
gotta be". This mindset has us all .
buying the same things and the debt
load financially and spiritually is
astounding. Remember the old phrase
"Keeping up with the Joneses?" That

philosophy from the 1950s is still
alive and well here in the 21st
century. We have forgotten how to
individualize, be uniquely and
creatively ourselves. It means using
colours that make us smile and '
energize us instead of what a stylist
says we should use. It means
refurbishing pieces and accessories
that empower us or hanging artwork
that energizes us and us alone, no
matter what the neighbours think.
Remember your neighbour is not
living your life — it's your life to
create. Enjoy being uniquely and
bravely you, marching to your own
drummer (which I admit can be very
scary at times, but very satisfying to
our spirit).
Each of us are born with a unique
gift to express so positively that it
shines throughout our homes and
lives if we access it fully. When we
dare to be creatively ourselves we
assist others in their quest for their
own style identity. What a fantastic
time of year to put our individual
creativity to the test. Not only can we
choose to trim the tree and set our
festive table in the manner we have
always wanted to, we can wrap our
gifts expressing our creative force.
Best of all we can start a list of how
and what we desire to do within our
homes during 2004 to be
authentically overflowing with our
uniqueness — daring to be ourselves.
What could be more energizing and
powerful than exercising our choices
to live a truly uniquely creative life?
May beauty and blessings be with
each of you this festive season.0
