Perth County Federation of Agriculture annual meeting The annual meeting of the Perth County Federation of Agriculture was held on Thursday. October 9, 2003 at the Mitchell Community Centre. The following were elected to represent the farmers of Perth County at the Directors table. Whereas, farmers need to ensure the disposal of deadstock takes place in a manner which respects the environment, and Whereas, the rendering industry is limited in their markets for rendered animal products. and Whereas, Technology exists for alternative uses of deadstock, such as composting, and alternative energy production (biodiesel and incineration) Therefore Be It Resolved, that the Ontario Federation of Agriculture after consultation with Ontario Livestock Commodity Groups, encourage the Provincial Government. and the Nutrient Management Advisory Committee, to give immediate attention to developing the infrastructure required for alternative means of deadstock disposal.0 EFP WORKSHOP A Perth Environmental Farm Plan workshop will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and finishing in the morning of Thursday, November 6 at the Kirkton-Woodham Community Centre. This past summer on two occasions I had an uncomfortable experience. stood in line at a local fast-food restaurant, with someone that had very dirty rubber boots on. I felt uncomfortable as a customer and more important as a farmer. Perception is what it is all about, folks. If we are telling people how safe and secure our food supply is, let's look the part.
