This is just another example, along with Walkerton and Ontario Hydro, of how her government's deregulation and cutbacks have threatened and endangered the health and safety of the people of Ontario. Yes, Helen, there are people out there who have to be regulated to protect others. Government cutbacks meant that the people who inspected the plants were from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the people who did enforcement on dead animals were from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, and apparently they could not communicate effectively. The saddest part is that the recall of meat was left to the Government of Canada — why did the provincial government not immediately act to stop the sale of this meat? Additionally, in reading the Toronto papers, Helen Johns referred all questions to Premier Ernie Eves — but maybe that is a good thing after her foolish statements about closing Ontario's borders to the rest of Canada when the BSE crisis began. Perhaps Ernie Eves and Helen Johns were planning to release their next budget at Aylmer Meats as an example of how deregulation and government cutbacks can increase a company's profits. I will be voting for anyone but Helen Johns.0 Doug Garniss RR 4, Wingham, ON
