When travelling on roadway, hitch
pull -type equipment only to the
drawbar and use safety hitch pins.
Connect each farm wagon or piece
of equipment to the towing vehicle
by two separate means of attachment
and make sure properly rated safety
chains are being used.
For road travel, lock individual
tractor wheel brakes together.
Use lights every time you drive and
maintain a safe travel speed for the
conditions.
Just as when driving a car, by law,
tractor operators must always signal
turns.
To reduce night time collisions,
display reflective tape on equipment
sides, front, and rear.
Children may also be helping
out around the farm by cutting
the grass and this too requires
thought about the safety rules for
using a lawnmower safely.
When driving a riding lawnmower,
never take passengers.
Be sure the transmission is out of
gear, and the mower blade clutch is
disengaged before starting the
engine.
Mow up and down slopes to reduce
chances of tipping and slow down
when turning sharply.
Always look before backing up and
keep hands and feet away from
moving parts.
Never touch a hot engine or
exhaust components.
Disengage the power to blades and
turn off the motor before leaving the
seat. Set the brakes and lock the
transmission.
When using a push lawnmower,
mow across slopes so your feet are

machine.
Only make adjustments with the
engine off and spark plug
disconnected and never leave a
machine unattended with the motor
running. Cut throttle to idle and be
sure the mower can't roll before
