Energy is everywhere! It is what
you and I are made of. It is the reason
why one colour looks different from
the next — why textures, shapes and
forms appear the way they do. It's all
the vibrational quality of energy.
Energy can be either positive or
negative, and of course in the
ultimately healthy home, the more
positive energy qualities that are
present, the better we are physically
and mentally. So this month we take
a look at our friend/foe, electricity.
No matter how clean and neat our
home is, how well we picked the
prime location and site for our home
or how much we use whole and
natural cleaning products and
materials or even how much we
expose the interiors of our lives to
fresh air, we need to recognize the
fact that today we live in an
"electrical soup". Microwaves,
dishwashers, toasters, blenders, hair
curling irons, electric shavers,
stereos, TVs, computers and of
course all the diverse and varied
gadgetry we are continually offered
via infomercials — all of this
technology adds to the "electostress"
our bodies are subjected to daily.
Satellites connect continents
instantly, allowing us communication
with people on a world-wide basis
but we are paying a price.
There are many unsolved
questions in regards to our use of
electronic gadgets and the very real
and threatening diseases from cancer,
Parkinson's, Alzheimers, allergies,
and the general breakdown of the
immune system. Along with the
negative energy fields these products
create within our home and office
environments, thereby draining us of
our health and vitality, we need to be
aware of the positive measures we
can take to rid ourselves of some of
the residue and balance our living
spaces with positive energy choices.
A measure even as simple as
placing a Boston fern on or near a TV
or stereo can balance the negative
vibrations and likewise add a positive
charge to the computer -area also. A
vial of natural sea salt placed on a
computer will also alleviate the
electrical emission given off. Mobile
phones are a wonderful convenience
allowing us to conduct our business
out of doors but long phone calls are
much better made by conventional
phone lines. Sitting at least six feet
away from the TV and as far back as
possible from computer screens is
very advisable. Not allowing either of
these "conveniences" to babysit our
kids is an act of great positive energy
that is immeasurable in the long run.

the cake by hand, knead our bread by
hand, use a blade razor, use a water
bottle over a heating pad and shake
our own milkshake or martini, versus
using a gadget. Not only will it cut
down on our homes' "electrical
soup", it slows us down and puts us
into direct contact with our bodies
and surroundings.
A gadget -free bedroom is
essential with anyone suffering
from sleep disorders, and will assist
with the clean, positive energy flow
to rejuvenate the body naturally.
It is advisable to be aware of
electrical heating in floors and
overhead and when we find that
these methods are our source of heat
counteract their effects by ensuring
we are getting fresh air circulation in
these areas coupled with the positive
energy of a good natural light source,
green houseplants and fresh flowers,
and empowering colour choices for
our living and working spaces.
Always switch off or unplug all
appliances when not in use, reduce
the number of electrical appliances
within our living spaces and keep the
gadgets that are only occasionally
used stored in the back of your
cupboards.
Every measure you take to ensure
a vital positively -charged
environment will assist with a
healthy, happy and wholesome
atmosphere. Throw back the heavy
window treatments and open your
windows to let the pure positive
energy forces of fresh air and light
flow into your home and workspace.
Turn off the gadgets and tune into the
day-to-day living hum that we create
naturally, or listen to Mother Nature's
soft and gentle voice, carried to us on
the breeze. It reduces stress and adds
to our vitality.
Oliver Wendell Holmes observed:
"God gave his creatures light and air
and water open to the skies. Man
locks him in a stiffing lair and
wonders why his brother dies."
Next month we'll look at our
cleaning products for the home and
some natural alternatives.°
