The Rural Voice, 2003-03, Page 37Roland recalls, because they could
see the writing on the wall for a
down -sizing of the ministry. Being a
farmer involved in farm
organizations (he's a former regional
director of the Ontario Federation of
Agriculture) Roland felt being part of
a province -wide organization was the
way to go so the Huron -Perth group
was set up as a Chapter of the
Ontario Woodlot Association. As
members of the Ontario organization,
Huron -Perth members get its
quarterly newsletter and the
opportunity to attend the provincial
annual meeting.
Joining a woodlot association isn't
a major investment. The Grey
and Bruce association each
charge $25 a year. The Huron -Perth
group charges $35 a year which
include affiliation with the Ontario
Woodlot Association. To encourage
new members, however, the group
has an introductory special on right
now of just $15 for the first year.
Considering the staggering
amount of dollars that can be made or
lost by getting the best price for
harvesting a woodlot, the
membership fee is a small investment
with the potential for a big return.0
