Kaniwi Korrals, an Alberta -based
manufacturer and distributor of sheep
and goat handling equipment and
custom corrals, will demonstrate the
newest technology in sheep/goat
handling. The unit features an auto
restraint system that uses compressed
air to "catch" the sheep. The unit
allows full access to the animal for
weighing, vaccinations. crutching
and more.
"The unit we are demonstrating is
the most technologically advanced
sheep handler in the world," says Ed
Morrow, owner of Kaniwi Korals.
Other demonstrations include a
hoof trimming tilt table demo
presented by Kaniwi Korrals, a
pneumatic hoof trimming unit and a
sheep and goat milking
demonstration withequipment from
Jan Baan.
ARotational Grazing
Demonstration using sheep
will also be back this year,
showing visitors the benefits of
rotating pastures, and how easily it
can be done. The best time to move
the animals to fresh pasture, and the
benefits of moving. them will also be
discussed.
"The demo will be a great
opportunity to learn about the basic
principles of pasture management
and how animals can be easily
moved to fresh grass," says Jack
Kyle, provincial grazier specialist
from the Ontario Ministry of
Agriculture and Food (OMAF).
Gallagher Power Fencing will be
involved in a hands-on demo
showing how to build an effective
power fence and how to use portable
electric fencing with rotational
grazing.
Inside the Sheep and Goat
Pavilion commercial exhibitors will
be showcasing equipment, building
structures, genetics, feed, stockand
more. The Ontario Sheep Marketing
Agency, the Canadian Sheep
Breeders' Association, the Ontario
Dairy Sheep Association, the Ontario
Katandin Sheep Association, OMAF,
the Ontario Goat Milk Producers'
Association, the Canadian Boer Goat
Association and the Ontario Goat
Breeders Association will also
exhibit in the Pavilion.
