was for marijuana growers," said
Cliff. "Imagine what it would have
done to the price of marijuana if they
had actually legalized pot for
medicinal use."
"Yeh, the worst thing that could
happen for all those guys who sneak
into our hack fields and plant pot
would be if they made it legal," said
Dave. "Then they'd get what we get
for corn."
"I keep wondering if there was a
way to start a little plantation back
near the swamp and make it look like
some guy from the city was doing
it," said Cliff. "Then if the police
found it you could play innocent. If
they didn't, you'd have a nice little
bonus income."
"Yeh, but where do you market
the crop?" said Dave. "You can't
exactly take it to the auction barn."
"I don't know, if I paid you to
give free sample to some of the
buyers they might be light-headed
enough to pay a price for my cattle
that 1 can make a profit on," said
George.
"Maybe you could feed the
marijuana to the cattle," said Dave.
"Did you see about that Australian
study where they found out what the
cattle ate changed the flavour of the
beef? Imagine if they ate
marijuana?"
"Talk about a branding
opportunity," said Cliff. "I mean you
could open up a whole new market
for beef, selling in those little drug
paraphernalia shops in the cities with
a label that says 'grass fed beer."
"Kind of gives new meaning to
the term 'pot roast' doesn't it," said
George.
"So," interrupted Molly
Whiteside as she arrived to refill
Dave's coffee cup. "Haven't see you
around for the last week. Did you
have a good vacation?"
"Some of it was good," said
Dave. "We went to my brother's
cottage. The problem started when
we took out his boat. There was a
hole in it and the water came in. The
more we baled water out, the faster it
came in and we started to sink. This
wasn't my idea of getting away from
it all. It reminded me of being home
en the farm doing the books."0
