The Rural Voice, 2002-06, Page 33according to Haig, twice as much back through the income tax system from direct and indirect job creation. He is equally adamant that without the tax relief the plant is not viable in Ontario. He says, "The really sad thing is without a level playing field we will likely go to the U.S. with an all Canadian technology and Canadian investment." Biox is currently fabricating a 60 million Titre plant in Brantford and negotiating with companies in both the U.S. and Canada as to where the plant will actually be built. The environmental benefits are obvious and well documented. Biodiesel burns more completely than regular diesel and consequently cuts down on unburned hydrocarbons and particulate matter. It produces less carbon monoxide and no sulfates (because there is no sulfur in the fuel). Further the increased use of renewable fuel crops would reduce life -cycle carbon dioxide, a primary greenhouse gas. Haig claims that for Biodiesel produces less carbon monoxide and no sulfates because there is no sulfur in the fuel every two per cent of biodiesel added to each litre of diesel sold in Canada the country would meet one per cent of its targets under the Kyoto accord. The fuel itself is no more toxic than table salt (some say less) and is totally biodegradable. As a cosmetic benefit it simply smells better. According to the environmental website earthisland.org the aroma is akin to French fries or donuts. The arguments for safety and ease of use are simple and straight forward. Biodiesel is compatible with current engine technology, even in concentrations approaching 100 per cent. This compatibility means that users do not need to have equipment undergo expensive conversions. Nor is there a need for changes in parts inventories, fueling stations or mechanical skills. The only caution seems to be that at high concentrations it may cause ATTENTION MOCO AND SWATHER OWNERS EasyCut® Sickle Bar System EG.
