backwards because Canada chooses
not to keep up with and stay
competitive with U.S. ag policy, we
are going to be in trouble. It's going
to come from your neighbours, and
its going to be real messy.
Our senior levels of government
need to get the message and
they need to hear it loud and
clear. We will not accept being pitted
against each other. We will not
accept second best. We will not
accept half-hearted measures. We
will not accept a Minister of
Agriculture who cannot get our
message across. We will not accept

oilseeds farmers and the continuing
thinner and thinner slice of the
consumer dollar.

How much research behind
current causes such as tighter
environmental regulations or gun
laws is actually faked by government
officials, or others in power with a
vested interest in the outcome? •
That's a valid question in the light
of three recent cases where critical
research data was found fraudulent:
• U.S. government wildlife officials
planted lynx fur to prove the presence
of an endangered species, which
would justify a broad expansion of
their Endangered Species Act
jurisdiction.
• Tulane University (U.S.A.)
researcher Dr. Steven F. Arnold
admitted fabricating data and
"proving" that certain combined
pesticides are highly potent in
imitating human estrogen. The
research "verified" fears of a
speculative but horrifying book, Our
Stolen Future, which former U.S.
Vice -President Al Gore praised and
wrote the forward in. EPA chief
Carol Browner called it strong
evidence for birth defects. EPA
pesticide chief Lynn Goldman called
the results very clean looking. It also
accelerated a drastic series of EPA
regulations in the U.S.A. that are still
on the books and seemingly cannot
be undone.
• Emory University (U.S.A.)
professor Michael Bellesiles' book,
Arming America: the Origins of the
National Gun Culture, apparently
perpetrated what the New York Times
calls "one of the worst academic
