Beware of Coltsfoot,' living on 210 acres in Grey County, studying the land uses and merits of plants and trees I was a little concerned about your article saying coltsfoot must be destroyed. I only knowof two small patches of coltsfoot on my land. These have not increased much over the last 20 years. From my experience coltsfoot prefers to grow on wasteland or wet streambanks with soil of high clay content. Coltsfoot is the first flower in spring. Usually I pick some of the flowers and eat them. I would like to share some information from my herb books on what Coltsfoot is good for, and that it is not as bad as was projected in your article. There are many internal and external uses given with high praise for their effectiveness. It is used for colds, coughs and as poultice for sores. It is good for most respiratory problems such as chronic bronchitis. Try smoking the leaves or use freshly pressed juice of the leaves to overcome the habit of tobacco smoking.0 — Karl Backhaus RR 2, Holland Centre Ir Closed for Holidays! /.
