Finally we need to take into
consideration both the natural and
artificial light in and around our
home. Natural light will play a major
role in any number of areas. For
example, where we plant our
vegetable garden, whether we need
canopies over our deck or patio or
windows, etc. the question to be
addressed here is "what is the effect
that the natural light is having on my
property and how do I make it work
for me?"
Finally our outdoor lighting
systems are to be considered,
remembering that exterior lighting i,
the most effective and yet least costly
means of safeguarding our property
and ensuring our own and guests'
safety and security. Today, outdoor
lighting styles are so varied and
versatile that there is no limit to the
beautiful effects 'one can achieve
within in one's domain. A few
guidelines for consideration are in
order, such as: always control glare,
use lighting sparingly, (a little goes a
long way); use automatic devices and
timers to turn lighting on and off; be
considerate of your neighbours and
ensure that your lighting is not
shining into their windows. First and
foremost, be creative!
Personal motivation and
inspiration will always assist in
making one's home all that it can be.
All homes are truly a communion of
the spirits that live therein.0
