Euchre Held
On Boxing, Day
BELGRAVE—A Boxing Day
euchre and dance was held in
the Foresters' Hall in Belgrave
with eleven tabies in play.
High prizes for the evening
went to Mrs. George Michie
and Clifford Coultes. Miss
Helen Currie and Herson Irwin
took the low prizes.
The Ranch Boys supplied the
music for the occasion, and
they will also be on hand for
the dance to be held January
9th. The proceeds from these
dances will be used to rebuild
the arena.
School Children
Present Concert
LAKELET—The pupils of
S. S. 2 Howick presented a
Christmas concert on Thursday
evening in the Lakelet W.I.
Hall, Pianist for the carols and
other singing was Lewis Byers.
A play was presented by the
pupils called, "A Western Play"
which was written by a grade 7
pupil, Kaye Woods, Piano
solos were played by, Mary Lou
McKee, Revel Dettman and
Denise Dettman.
Another play "The Night
Before Christmas" was also en-
joyed. The teacher,John Mon-
tieth, and music instructor,
Miss Campbell are to be com-
plimented on the fine perform-
ance of all the pupils.
The arrival of ever -popular
Santa Claus brought the pro-
gram to a close.
Santa Visits
LAKELET—The pupils of
McIntosh United Sunday School
held a very fine Christmas pro-
gram on Saturday evening at
McIntosh Church. After the
program Santa Claus arrived to
distribute gifts and treats.

BLUEVALE--The postponed
meeting of the Bluevale Wo-
men's Institute was held at the
home of Mrs. Harry Elliott,
December 19th with Mrs.George
Hetherington presiding. The
roll call "One thing I would
like for Christmas" brought in-
teresting replies. Articles for
the gift shelf for cancer patients
in Wingham Hospital were re-
ceived.
It was decided to hold the
February meeting on the even-
ing of February 4th in order to
hear the Farm Forum Broadcast.
Mrs. Allan Nicholson gave the
topic, "Christmas, " telling of
many Christmas customs and
traditions with thoughts of its
meaning for us. Mrs. G.C.
Mitchell had charge of the
singing of Christmas carols,
with Mrs. Carl Johnston at the
piano,
In the beautifully decorated
home the hostess was assisted in
serving refreshments, including
Christmas cake, by the com-
mittee Mrs. R.J. McMurray,
Mrs. G C. Mitchell and Mrs.
W, J. Peacock.
