There was an unusually
heavy budget, most of which
arrived after the two-day holi-
day. It was a matter of print-
ing as much as we could in the
time available. The missing
pieces will be held over for
next week.

Home Decorations
Are Finest in Years
Never in the history of Wing -
ham have the citizens put forth
such an all-out effort to beauti-
fy their homes in the spirit of
Christmas. With more than
fifty outstanding displays of
the yuletide season, one can
readily understand the difficult
job facing the judges in their
final decision.
The beauty and simplicity
of the nativity scene at the Dr.
B. N. Corrin family residence
captured first place. TheJack
( Ace) Bateson residence, beauti-
fully
eautyfully lighted and displaying
the "Old St. Nick" theme and
the star on the chimney con-
taining almost 50 lights captur-
ed a close second place. The
Frank Hopper residence which
made use of the beauty of na-
tural surroundings both front
and back, took third prize.
Honourable mention should
be tendered to many home
owners whose displays came
within a point or two of the
three winners and are as follows
Harry McArthur, Roy Bennett,
George Galbraith, Wilber Tif-
fin, Harold Taylor, Bert Ma-
thers, Allan Buntstead, Dr. W.
A. McKibbon, Frank Howson,
Percy Clark, Scott Reid, Char-
lie Davidson, Bill Harris, Cam
McTavish, Jim Lee, Bud Cruick-
shank, Bob Chettleburgh, Dave
Burgess, Roy Manuel and many
others.
The nativity display at the
Roman Catholic church is very
beautiful.
The Royal Canadian Legion
sincerely thanks the citizens of
Wingham who have co-operated
in making Wingham one of the
most beautifully decorated
towns in Ontario for this happy
Christmas season.
