Mr. Lockridge is also sur-
vived by his mother, Mrs. John
Lockridge of Wingham, a sister,
Mrs. Gilbert Fraser, Niagara
Falls, N.Y. , and a brother,
Alfred, Wingham.
The funeral was on Monday
morning from Sacred Heart
Church with Rev. G. J. Freker
officiating, Interment was in
Wingham R. C. Cemetery, the
pallbearers being Roy Manuel,
Harry Town, Len Crawford,
Chris, Newman, Dr, W. A,
MgKibbon and Howard Fuller.
The flower bearers Were Mich-
ael and Paul Fleury, Jefferey
Lockridge and Hank Scott..

members present and Lynne
Wright giving the call to wor-
ship, followed by the purpose
and answer and Lord's Prayer.
All joined in singing the Nation-
al Anthem and Scripture was
given by Bonnie Adams.
Prayer was offered Lynne
Wright, Collection, amount-
ing to $1.45, was taken by
Lynne Wright and a hymn was
sung. The business portion of
the meeting was followed by
games and the meeting closed,
with Taps.

Laymen Conduct
Church Services
WHITECHtJRCH~-The lay-
men 'or the Presbyterian Church
had charge of the morning ser-
vice here, and the afternoon
service in Calvin Church on
Sunday, Lorne Forster conduct-
ed the service, .and Jas. Rich-
ardson read the Scripture lesson
and led in prayer.
Murray Gaunt gave the Re-
ntembrance Day message. Mr.
Derwyn Hill sang, " The Holy
City" and the reale choir from
both churches sang, "How
Great Thou Art", with George
Conn at the church organ, Mr,
Forster closed the meeting with
prayer.

Life Member
BLUEVALE—The Life Mem-
bership meeting of Knox Presby-
terian Church W. M, S. washeld
at the home of the Life Mem-
bership secretary, Mrs. Harry
Elliott, on November 7th. The
W. M. S. president, Mrs. Ber-
nard Thomas presided, quoting
the theme of the meeting, " The
World for Christ" and leading
in prayer. Mrs. Thomas gave
a reading, "Check your Battery:
Mrs. Ross Mann read psalm
61 and prayer was given by Mrs.
Eldred Nichol, The roll call
and discussion of business fol-
lowed. The offering was dedi-
cated by Mrs. Raymond Elliott.
A Life Membership Certifi-
cate was presented to Mrs. Jas.
Greenaway by Mrs. Harry El-
liott, Mrs. Raymond Elliott
reading an address. Mrs.
Greenaway thanked the mem-
bers for the remembrance.
Mrs. R. J. McMurray gave
thoughts on the saving grace
of gratitude and forgiveness.
Her closing remarks were from
the book, "Look Up and Lift
Up" --" The purpose of life is
to grow" . Lunch and a social
time was enjoyed.

Winter Fair at Toronto on the

son last week, were her sister

On Friday evening a party
was given in the community
hall in honor of Mr, and Mrs.
Bert Hastings (formerly Ruth
Irwin). William Elston read a
complimentary address and
Harvey Edgar presented apurse
of money with the good wishes
of many friends. The evening
was spent in dancing.

Brussels Crash
Funeral .service was held. at
St, John's Anglican Church,
Windsor en Friday fpr John Owen
Jones and his wife, Kathleen,
who died in a motor accident

Wednesday afternoon of last
week,
Mr, Jones, a native of Sar-
nia, had moved with his fam-
ily to Brussels about three mon-
the ago from London. They
were former residents of Wind-
sor.
They are survived by four
children, six years of age and
under: Carol, Kenneth, Leslie
and Shelley. The three yo`hng-
er children were injured in the
accident and have been pa-
tients in the Wingham Hospital,
Mr. Jones is also survived by
his mother and step -father, Mr.
and Mrs. Peter St. Ong of Wind-
sor; a brother, James Jones,
Windsor; and two sisters, Mrs.
Lloyd (Barbara) Shortt, Sarnia
and Mrs. May Charlton, Lon-
don.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her
parents, Mr. and Mrs, Ray Mc-
Connell, Windsor; brothers,
David, Ray, Donald, Herbert
and Kenneth, all of Windsor;
sisters, Madeline McConnell
and Mrs. Charles (Joyce) Avery,
both of Windsor, as well as her
grandmother, Mrs. Edith Clarke,
Sarasota, Florida.

WROXETER--The November
meeting of the U, C,, W, was
held in the Sunday Schoolroom
of the church on Wednesday
evening with 21 members pre-
sent and two visitors. The
meeting opened with the hymn
"God Is Love" and prayer by
the president, Mrs, Stanley
Gallaher,
The secretary's report was
given by Mrs: Archie Miller
and in the absence of Mrs, Wm.
Wright, the treasurer's report
was read by Mrs. Harvey Coup -
land.

At Heimpel Home
WROXETER— The November
meeting of the Women's Insti-
tute was held at the home of
Mrs. Wes. Heimpel with Mrs.
Wm. T. McLean in the presi-
dent's chair. Several thank -
you notes were read and the
members were reminded that
the Area Convention will be in
Guelph, November 15 and 16.
The reports of the Huron
County rally and the leadership
course were given by Mrs. Thos
Burke. Mrs. J. H. Wylie re-
viewed some of the highlights
from the citizenship kit for the
topic.
The film on the opening of
the Adelaide Hoodless Horne at
Stoney Creek and the 65th. an-
niversary of the Federated Wo-
men's Institute of Ontario, was
enjoyed. This was followed by
the presentation of the 65th.
anniversary skit.
The roll call, " Wornen in
the News and Donation for Can-
cer Society" , brought an excel-
lent response, Mrs. Allan
Munro thanked all who had
helped to make the meeting a
success and the hostesses for
the evening were Mrs. Wm.
Taylor and Mrs. Jos. Simmons.

those who helped at the county
banquet, She read a note of
thanks from Mrs. Jas, Sander*
son, leader of the Friendship
Unit, who wished to thank all
who gave so generously to the

It was suggested the nomina-
ting committee be contacted so
they would bring in a slate of
officers at the Deeembermeet-
ing.
The Scripture and the gom-
ment on it were given by Mrs.
Gilbert Howes. Mrs, Jas. Doig
led in prayer and Mrs, George
Gibson gave a talk on "Remem-
brance and Peace". She read
the poem, "In Flanders' Fields:
Mrs. Chas. McCutcheon and
Mrs. Vernon. Hupfer favored
with a duet with Mrs. Martin at
the piano. Mrs. Wm. Taylor
spoke on the new study book
for the coming year, and other
literature that was available,
It was decided to send a bale
December 15th, and any dona-
tions will be appreciated. Mrs.
G. L. Dobson is in charge.
The meeting closed with the
hymn "Land of Our Birth" and
prayer by Mrs. Jas. Doig. A
delicious lunch was served by
the committees in charge and a
social half hour enjoyed.
