Story of Creation On Flannelgraph At Mission Bare' WHITECHURCH--The Mis- sion Band of the Presbyterian Church met in the Sunday Sch- ool room of the church on Sat- urday a -urday with the Messengers of the United Church as guests. Mrs. Derwyn Hill gave a reading on November and Remembrance Day, Darlene Simpson gave the reading for a fiannelgraph of the Creation of the World and Edna Wall and Sandra Fish' er made the pictures on the flannelgraph, Mr, Hill showed two inter- esting film strips, " The Iceca- pades" and " A Visit to the Zoo at. Buffalo" . Mrs. Hugh Simp- son and Wendy Reynolds led in the games during the recreation period and all enjoyed the lunch and Social time. Calvin -Brick Social Evening WHITECHURCH—The Cal- vin -Brick congregation held its annual social evening in the Sunday School of the United Church, Belgrave, on Friday evening. Fourteen tables of crokinole were in play under the guidance of Ivan Dow and Lawrence Taylor. Mrs. Ronald Coultes and George McGee held high points, and Joyce Coultes and Brian Coultes held high points for the children's games. Ivan Dow was chairman for the program. Brenda and Lin- da Coultes sang a duet and they and Ruth and Doris Coultes sang a quartette. Jimmie Beecroft and Doris Coultes gave recita- tions and Helen Anderson and Janet Beecroft played duet num- bers on the piano. City and Rural Church Problems Are Discussed The November meeting of the Women's Missionary Society of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church was opened with a call to worship and prayer by the president, Mrs. W. Murchison. The Scripture lesson was read by Mrs. G, L. Fish. In het meditation upon the words of Jesus, "Ye are the salt of the earth", "Ye are the light of the world", she stressed the thought that He was speaking to His dis- ciples, and that He is still call- ing alfing upon Christians to give sa- vour and light to the world a- round. Mrs. F. Moffatt, assisted by Mrs. J. McKague and Mrs. H. Aitchison, continued a discus- sion of the problems in city and rural churches. Many sugges- tions were offered for increas- ing interest and attendance, chief among which was person- al contact. Prayers were offered by Mrs. Fish and Mrs. W. McKague. The meeting closed with the singing of the hymn, "Lord, Speak to Me that I May Speak". "Perhaps the basis for most o our gripes about the younger gen eration is that we no longer be long to it." The ladies of the choir of the Presbyterian Church held a sale of baking and aprons in the council chambers, Wingham on Saturday, and despite the rainy afternoon realized a goodly sum for choir needs. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Pattison moved to an apartment on Fran- cis St. Wingham, on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Clare and family of Toronto spent the week -end with her parents, Mr, and Mrs. Fred Daw. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Burchill and children spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kerr of Stayner and Mr. Wm. Burchill, who spent last week at the Kerr home, returned home to Wawa - nosh. Mr, E. E. Walker had his barn ready to receive 6000 baby chicks for broilers on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Pur - don and children of Thorndale and Mr. and Mrs, Harold Cook and Warren of Blyth, visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. John Purdon. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Coultes, Mrs. Lester Falconer, Mrs. Frank Ross, Mrs. Elgin Johnston, and others from Luck- now, St. Helens and Wingham, made up the bus load of thirty - Clyde Graham Dies Suddenly WHITECHURCH—Clyde Wes- ley Graham of Inwood, a cou- sin of McGee families in this district, passed away suddenly when down street, on Saturday morning. He was in his 79th year. Mrs. Leask McGee, George McGee, Mrs. John McGee, Nelson Dow and Gilbert Bee- croft were at the Alvinston funeral home on Sunday, and burial was in Alvinston ceme- tary on Monday. Besides his widow he leaves two sons, John of Sarnia and William of Windsor, and two brothers, Russell and George of Detroit. Sunday to visit with her brother, Donald Caesar, who is recovering from an oper- ation in Victoria Hospital. BIRTH JOHNSTON--In Port Elgin Hospital on October 28, to Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Johnston of Pais- ley, (nee Lois Ribey) a daugh- ter, a sister for Ann. Accident Victim Buried Thursday BELGRAVE- -Funeral service was held on Thursday from D. A. Rann funeral home in Brussels for George Campbell Martin, 53, clerk of Morris Township, who was killed in a tractor -car accident on Tuesday. A lifelong resident of Morris Township, Mr. Martin attended S. S. 5 Morris and Brussels Con-, tinuation School. In 1937 he married Helen Grasby, who sur- vives. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Martin and farmed on the home farm, Lot. 11, Concession 6, Morris. He was a faithful member of Knox United Church, Belgrave, of which he was a steward. Besides his wife he leaves to mourn three brothers, Clarence of Morris, Edwin of Brussels and Ernest of Grey Township. Ser- vice was conducted. by Rev. H. J. Anderson of Knox United Church, Belgrave. Pallbearers were, George Michie, Robert Grasby, Ernest Michie, Elmer Young. Kenneth White and William McArter. Flowerbearers were the reeve of Morris Township, Stewart Proc- tor, and township officials, Wil- liam illiam Elston, James Mair, Ross Smith, Walter Shortreed and Nelson Higgins. Interment was in Brussels Cemetery and family visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Johnston of Woodstock. Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Mogk of Gadshill were Sunday vise - tors '- tors with Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Koch. John Hotson and Wm. Smith are on a hunting trip at French River.
