The monthly meeting of the Bel,
moreII,C.W, was held at the home
of Mrs, Leonard Metcalfe on Wed-
nesday with. M. Bari Fitch In
charge, The meeting began with a
worship service, during which
Mrs. Rowland J al1agh conducted
a Bible study. Miss Lavonne Bal-
lagh sang a solo, which was enjoy-
ed by the gathering,
The study book was read by Mr's,
Joseph. Simmons and Mrs, Metcalf
gave a reading on temperance, The
president, Mrs. Harry Mulvey, con-
ducted the business. The roll call
was well answered with the ladies
giving some thoughts on being
thankful good health, the pre-
senee of a good and loving Fa-
ther to protect and guide us, and
for Christian upbringing which
gives a firm foundation for adult
life, The minutes were read by
Mrs. Simmons and it was decided
to obtain a study guide to "The
Word and the Way", a book recent-
ly purchased by the group for bett-
ter understanding of the principles
of faith,

Meeting of the Women's Institute,
under the heading of education
and .citizenship, was held on Wed-
nesday evening as a meeting open
to the public, In the community
hall. Mrs, Mabel McLean was in
the president's chair and weleoned
all visitors and members.
"Hymn of All Nations" opened
the meeting. A humorous reading
was given by Mrs. D. S. Mac -
Naughton of Wingham,
F. E. Madill,introducecl by
James Wylie, speaking on "Voce,.
tional and Technical Schools",
gave an interesting and informa-
tive talk on the new courses for
pupils of the high schools. In his
remarks he stated that all pupils
would be able to make a choice
between the four and five year
courses in the 9th grade. The
same education will be available
in small schools as In the large
city schools and the technical
training will help students to get
into trades, It is hoped that the
new program will be started in
1963.
Leslie Douglas thanked Mr, Ma-
dill for 'his address. Gilbert Howes
led in community singing and Mrs.
Mabel McLean read a poem, "The
Mr and Mrs Fred Thompson and Builder".
