H. Moffatt. Rev. C. F. ,Tobnson officiated nn Mionrlay afternoon when service was held from the R. A, Currie & Sons funeral home for Mrs. F, E. Seli. Interment was in Wingham cemetery. The pallbearers were T. A. Cur. rie,- .Leslie McDougall, ,Toe Red- man, • Tom Cruickshank, Kenneth Sinnamon and Robert Brooks, The floied tributes were carried by Al- vin '-'Sen, Wilfred Seli, Clifford Bennett and William Wilson. Mrs. Sell had been ill for six weeks and had been in hospital here and in London since she suf- fered a broken hip in a fall on July 17. Death occurred In the Wing - ham Hospital, The former Janet Amelia Net- terfield was in her 67th year. She was born in Turnberry Township, daughter of the late James and Sar- ah Netterfield. She attended school in Lower Wingham. Her husband, Francis E. Self, predecease' her December 3, 1950. Surviving are two sons, James and •Fred Self, both of Winghatn, and a daughter, Mrs. Maude Wil- son of Detroit, A slaughter, Mary Amelia WMillie) predeceased her, There are also four grandchildren arid fifteen great-grandchildren. An interesting visitor with 'Mr. and Mrs, Bert Garniss was the tat- ter's cousin, Miss Dorothy Douglas, a high school teacher in Formosa under the Presbyterian Church, Mrs. W. Laughton and Mrs. H. Galbraith of Appin are guests of Rev. G. C. Mitchell and Mrs. Mit- chell this week. Mrs, Hector Brown of Fordwich visited at the home of Miss Mary Duff last week. Bluevale Women's Institute will meet at the home of Mrs, James Johnston on the evening of Sep- tember 12th. Mrs. M. Fraser will speak on the Trans -Canada. High- way, Mr. and Mrs. R, ,T, McMurray and son, Gordon, having sold their farm on Concession Two, Morris, have moved into their home recently built in the village. '1', E. Kennedy, Bluevale, The late Mrs, Kennedy was horn In Brussels, the eldest child of the late John Ballantyne and Mary Ballantyne. She was a graduate of Brussels High School and Slrat. ford Normal School, At the time of her marriage to Rev, T. E. Ken. nedy In 1920, she was principal of the Ethel Public School. Three sons were born to the un- ion. Flight -Lieutenant John B, Kennedy and Flight -Lieutenant William E. Kennedy lost their lives in the second world war, Both were born in the Cranbrook manse. A third son, James, now lives in Toronto and is the father of two young girls. Surviving besides the husband and son are her mother, and sister, Dorothy, both of Listowel and a brother, Sidney, of Toronto, The funeral, which was largely attended, was held from the R. A. Currie & Sons funeral home in Wingham on Thursday, and burial was made in Wingham cemetery. The pallbearers were A, D. Smith, Eldred Nichol, R. McMurray, Al- vin Mundell, Bruce Darling and Arnold Jeffrey. Elva MacDonald To Live in West Rev. Gordon L. Fish performed a wedding ceremony at St, Andrew's Presbyterian manse on Saturday afternoon when Elva Myrtle Mac- Donald, daughter of Mrs. Roy Mac- Donald, of Wingham, and the late Mr. MacDonald, became the bride of Corporal Robert Clifford Doyle, of 'Camp Petawawa, The groom is the son of Mrs. Lloyd Doyle, of Aylmer. The bride wore an old gold bro- caded suit with printed blouse and brown and moss green accessories. Her flowers were yellow mums. Miss Lenora Griffith, of Wrox- eter, was her only attendant, and was attired in a winter white two- piece suit, printed blouse and brown accessories. She wore a corsage of pink mums. Donald Doyle, of Brockville, was the best man. The reception was held at the home of the. 'bride's mother on Edward Street, where a buffet luncheon was • served, Guests were P resent from Windsor, Toronto, North Bay, Aylmer, Brockville and Blyth. The bride's mother wore a green dress with beige accessories and the groom's mother wore a turquoise dress with black accessories. The bride and groom left on a wedding trip to Northern Ontario. They will live in Chilliwack, B.C. ed from an enjoyable trip to the Maritimes, going by train to Monc- ton and taking bus trips from there. Mrs. J. Hertog, Mr. and Mrs. George Hertog and Cathy, all of Hamilton, spent the holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Hertog. Mrs. Alex McCrackin visited her daughter, Mrs. Harry Goll, in Brus- sels last week. Water is being piped into the community hall from Arnold Lil- low's drilled well. Bill Hetherington, Harvey Mann, Murray Robertson and Bill Hall were all CNE visitors last week. Harvey Mann spent the week -end in Wingham with Neil RenWick. Mrs, A. D. Smith has returned from a trip to Seattle and other western points. Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Mr, ;Bannerman gave his daugh- ter in marriage, who looked lovely In a gown of peau de sole .with ap- plique of roses with pearl centres accenting the skirt front and back. The neckline also featured roses of brocade applique, and the long, lily -point sleeves were set off with; self-covered baton closing. She wore a small train and carried red - roses and white stephanotis. Her three attendants, Miss Irene Bannerman of Brantford, sister of the bride, as maid of honor, and Misses Thelma Bannerman and Thelma 'Dobson as bridesmaids, were all in gold peau de soie street - length gowns with bell skirts and elbow -length ,sleeves. They car- ried bronze and white mums in spray arrangement. The bride and the attendants each wore a small strand of pearls. Lloyd Eheler of Brantford was best man. Elmer McFarlene and John Bannerman, both of Wing - ham, were ushers, Baskets of flowers, pink stream- ers and bells decorated the home of John Isaac Angor Duryea in Qorrie. He was a member of the United •Church'. lie married Mary McGee, of Bluevale, in 1918, who predeceased him in 1937. He later married Nellie, Brittaln, of Palmerston. A son, Walter, of Stratford, and a daughter, Mrs. Ruby Anderson, of Winnipeg, seven grandchildren, and a brother, George, of Wingham, survive. The bride and groom are both on the staff of St. Joseph's Hospital, Brantford, and will reside at 700 Colborne St, TWO-DAY COURSE FOUR LADIES MEND ILEADERSNIP SCHOOL BELGRAVE--Mrs. Cliff Purdon, Mrs. Clarke Johnston, Mrs, Harry Rhin and Mrs. Ted Fear attended the Leadership Training School for the 4.-H,Homemaking Club, "Dress- ing up Vegetables" on Tuesday and Wednesday last week. This was held in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Wingham and was sponsored jointly by the Women's Institutes and the Department of Agriculture. During the two days the 40 wo- men who attended were shown how to best present the course to the girls and the subject matter was shown in detail. Different re- cipes were demonstrated and taste - tested by the ladies andcomment was given. Miss Isabell Gilchrist the home economist for Huron County, led the school, assisted by Miss Marilyn Oke, home econom- ist for Lambton County. The la- dies of the Presbyterian Church catered to the luncheon on both days.
