Detroit Hospital
After a short illness there passe''
away suddenly On August 4th in
New Grace Hospital. Detroit,
Myrtle Imlay, Reg.N., beloved wife
of the late Frank Stark. Slue grad.

Gowanstown, representing the Atwood Lions
Club, was crowned beauty queen at the first
contest held by the Howick Lions Club. The
contest was in connection with the two -night
frolic lust Thursday and Friday evenings. Five
girls vied for the honour. Contestants shown
from the left are Carole Edmonds, Milverton;
Janie Hambly, Fordwich; Judy Renwick, Wing -

frolic•, heid in the community park
on Thursday and Friday was quite
a Ynr'Ct•,s, in spite of the cool wea-
ther t.f the opening night. Thurs-
day ,.:ght'.s program consisted of
the clr.,o•.ing of "Miss Lions' Club"
frons entrants of clubs in the sur-
rouiirling district, who displayed
their talent and by vocal music
supplied by the Lang Sisters of
Mildmay. Music for dancing was
provi.i •1 by the Fordwich Orches-
tra.
Entertainment Friday consisted
of the croshing of the winner of
the contest, Miss Sylvia Karges of
Gowanstown, who received $50.00
as first prize. Miss Karges sang as
her contribution to the talent show,
and was sponsored by the Atwood
Club.
Other entrants were Miss Janie
Hambly, Fordwich, the Howick
Club';, entrant, who sang; Miss
Judy Renwick, baton twirler, the
Wingham contestant; Miss Brenda
Allen, sponsored by Harriston who
sang to her own guitar accompani.

sor on Friday. Mrs. Harold Pollock
returned home after spending sev-
eral weeks there, where she attend,

Mrs, Anson Demerling was host-
ess for a farewell party in honor
of Miss Jean Foster, when neigh -0
bours enjoyed an evening of pro-
gressive euchre. Jean has taken a
position in Toronto. She was given
a purse of money for which she
expressed her thanks,
Mr, and Mrs, Robert Fitzpatrick

on their great aunt, Mrs. William*
Wade, last week.
