John Fitch Has
96th Birthday
John Fitch, of Delmore, cele-
brated his 96th birthday on Satur-
day at Huronview, Clinton, where
he has been since the end of May.
Mr. Fitgh is not as active as he
was a year ago but is still quite
whitty and enjoys his cigar.
Though not able to get around
much at the present time, he is
up for all .his meals and enjoys
having visitors call.
I He received many birthday cards
from friends and relatives, includ-
ing one from George Mines who
always remembers him on his
birthday.
Members of his family visited
Mr. Fitch on this happy occasion,

amid a setting of beautiful sum-
mer flowers.

ed at the wedding in Brussels Un-
ited Church when Lois Evonne
Dodds, Brussels, exchanged vows
with Private Forrest Grant Whit-
tard, who recently returned from
the United Nations Emergency
Force in the Middle East. The
bride is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Clifford Dodds of Gorrie and
the groom is the son of Mr, Ben-
jamin Whittard, Brussels, and the
late Mrs, Whittard.
The bride chose a street -length
dress of heavenly blue silk brocade,
featuring a scalloped neckline, and
cummerbund. A crystal tiara held
her blue net veil. She carried a
white lace -covered Bible crested
with white and blue baby chrysan-
themums.
The matron of honor, Mrs. Geo.
Wheeler, Brussels, wore an orchid
pink silk brocade dress similar to
the bride's dress with matching ac-
cessories. The dress material for
both the bride and her attendant
was sent from the Middle East by
the grown, Mrs, Wheeler's flow-
ers were white and pink chrysan-
themums with lace, to match the
bride's Bible.
George Wheeler was groomsman
and the guests were ushered by
William H. King. Mrs. William
H. King presided at the organ and
Mrs, Kenneth L, Griffith sang "The
Wedding Prayer" and "The Lord's
Prayer",
The reception was held at the
Queen's Hotel in Brussels. The
bride's mother wore a mint green
linen sheath dress with beige ac-
cessories and a white arid pearl
chrysanthemum corsage.
For travelling the bride wore her
wedding dress with a harrow belt
and beige and white accessories.
The couple will live at 66 Bridle
Path, Kipp's Lane, London,

Surviving are his wife and one
son, Dean, of Toronto; one brother.
James A., and a sister, Miss Edna
Carr, both of Wingham, and three
Neil Allan Carr, 52, a veteran of
World War II who served with the
RCAF, died in Westminster Hos-
pital on Thursday, He had been
hospitalized since the middle of
May and had undergone surgery
during the past month,
Mr. Carr was horn here, a son
of the late Mr. and Mrs, Alfred M.
Carr. He attended public and high
schools in Wingham and was a
garage mechanic by trade. He was
a member of St. Andrew's Preshv-
Carr, all of Wingham.
The funeral was from. the R. A.
Currie & Sons funeral home on
Saturday afternoon. Rev, C. M.

in Wingham Cemetery,

who wore an aqua nylon over taf-
feta
ballerina -length gown, styled
with scoop neckline, pouff sleeves,
shirred fullness above the fitted l
bodice and bouffant skirt, At her
waist was a cluster of nylon roses
and her face veil was caught to a
full crown edged with seed pearls.
Her nosegay was of pink carna-
tions edged with blue net.
The groom was attended by his ,
brother, Douglas Kirkby, and the
fishers were Ronald Ennis and
Ronald Workman, Mrs. Harvey ;
Brown was organist and accom-
panted Don MacDonald, who sang
"The Lord's Prayer" and "O Per.. .

At the reception which followed,
guests were welcomed by the )lap-
py couple and their parents. Mrs.
'D. Miller wore a suit of antique
ivory pure silk shantung with white
flowered hot and a gardenia cor-
sage.
