3BLGRAVE The regular meeting
of the WMS of Knox Presbyterian
Chureh was held on Tuesday even-
ing at the home of Mrs. Garner
Nicholson. The president, Mrs,
Wlgiltman, presided and opened the
meeting with the call to worship. A
hymn was aung and Mrs. 3, Me -
Burney read the Scripture, Mrs.
Wm. Morrison led in prayer.
The topic "The Church Down.
town," was in apanel form and
was taken by Mrs. E. Wightman,
Mrs. (1. Nicholson, Mrs, C. Purdon,
Margaret and Anne Wightman and
Marlene Perdon, .A discussion fol-
lowed in regard to the work of the
Christian Church and how we can
assist In the work, Marlene Pur -
don, Margaret Nicholson and Anne
Wighlman sang "Jesus I Come."
Plans, were continued for the fall
rally and committees were formed.

by Mrs, M. Scott, followed by a
hymn and the president closed the
meeting with prayer. A delicious

BIBLE SCHOOL OPENS
LAE ENROLLMENT
FOR SUMMER SCHOOL
BELGRAVE • Vacation Bible
School started in Knox United
Church on Monday with 109 en-
rolled. There were 27 beginners,
31 primary, 39 juniors, and. 12
teenagers.
The school was opened by the
director, Mrs. George Michie, who
gave words of welcome and intro-
duced the theme "My Bible and I,"
and the theme song of the school
which has the same title. The
promise was followed. by prayer.
The offering was received and
dedicatee!. Rev. H. J. Anderson
had the devotional talk, the topic
being "Hidden in the Heart." After
announcements the school went to
their classes. Bach day the daily
devotional talks will he taken by
different people as follows:

Anglican Church when a brass
cross, two feet thighand hearing
the inscription, "In Loving Memory
of Mr. and Mrs, James T, Brdyges"
of Belgrave, was dedicated by Rev,
Robert F. Meally. It was placed in
th church by Mr, and Mrs. ,Tames
Brydges, of Ridgetown, and Mr.
and Mrs, Louis D. Hayes, of El-

took place when Joan Lucille
Brydges, daughter of Mr. James
Brydges of Ridgetown, became the
bride of Harvey A. MacDonald, son
of Mr. and Mrs, A, MacDonald of
London, Ontario, on Saturday, at
two o'clock in Trinity Anglican
Church, Belgrave. The church was
beautifully decorated with white
mums, gladioli and pink a.n'l white
snapdragons. Rev. F. R. Meally
was the officiating clergyman.
The bride was preceded down the
aisle by the choir singing "We Lift
Our Hearts, 0 Father", Mrs. Law-
rence Vannan was organist.
Joseph Dunbar, uncle of the
bride, gave her in marriage. She
wore a ballerina -length gown of
peau de sole faille with bouffant
skirt, fitted bodice, illy -point sleev-
es an Sabrina neckline trimmed
with tiny pearls. A coronet of crys.
tals and pearls held the fingertip
veil of silk illusion, She carried a
white Bible crested with a white
orchid, with streamers of ivy and
stephanotis.
Her matron of honor was Mrs.

wore a. gown of lavender creptel-
ette with bell-shaped skirt, boat
shaped neckline and matching head

Joan Brydges
BELGRAVE-A surprise shower
for Miss Joan Brydges was held
on Monday .evening last week. in
the basement of Knox United
Church, with about 80 friends and
neighbours present. The room was
beautifully decorated with baskets
of flowers, pink and white hells and
pink streamers. The address was
read by Frances Walker and Miss
Brydges was presented with a card
table and four matching chairs, a
swivel rockingchair and money.
Those carrying the gifts were

WHITECHURCH The July
meeting of the Women's Institute
was held on Tuesday evening last,
with the president, Mrs. Dan Tif-
fin, presiding, and with 18 members
and five visitors present.
After the opening exercises Mrs.
Tiffin extended a welcome to all.
Correspondence was read from the
provincial president, regarding 't
safety program for the province;
from the treasurers and reserve.
