and sister, Mr, and Mrs, Clifford
Logan, on Saturday afternoon, for
their 25th wedding anniversary,
which was on Tuesday of this week.
The afternoon was spent in a social
time and a picnic supper was en-
joyed by all.
Mr. and Mrs, Logan were pre-

members of their families.

ning's activities and opened with

accompanied by Doreen Pattison,
and a bounteous ((inner, which the
girls had prepared, was enjoyed by
all present. The dinner was serv-

BELGRAVE—The home econ-
omics meeting of the Belgrave Wo-
men's Institute was held In the
community centre Tuesday evening
with the president, Mrs, Richard
Procter, in charge of the business
session. It was announced that the
members would hold a birthday
party at Huronview on August 22,
and the following committees were
named: lunch, Mrs. Leslie Bolt,
Mrs, Herb Wheeler and Mrs, Earl
Anderson; program, Mrs. C. R.
Coultes, Mrs, Albert Vincent and
Mrs. James Michie; gifts, Mrs.
Stanley Cook, Mrs. Cora McGill and
Mrs, Carl Procter,
The group agreed to cater to the
Huron County Credit Union ban-
quet, Plans were made for the an-
nual bus trip on July 10th. Mem-
bers were reminded of the Augest
meeting, when Miss Anna McDon-
ald will be the guest speaker and
tell of her trip to Jamaica, as well
as showing slides,
Each member is asked to bring
a friend to this meeting. It was
announced that the annual mem-
orial service will be held in Bran-
don Cemetery on July 1st at 8,30
p.m. with the Wingham Corps Sal-
vation Army Band in charge of the
music,
Mrs, Stanley Black was conven-
er of the program, opening with
all singing "The Maple Leaf For-
ever". Miss I, Gilchrist was the
guest speaker and told "The Reiil
Meaning of 4=H". Miss Lila Black
gave an illustrated skit, "Separates
for 'Summer", Seventeen 4-H girls
were present and modeled the sep-
arates they had made and told the
cost of each,
Mrs. Walter Scott gave a report
of the district annual meeting at
Clintion. Grace 'was sung and lunch
was served by Mrs. George Michie,
Mrs. James Michie, Mrs. Leslie
Bolt and Mrs. Earl Anderson.

Mr. and Mrs. Stanley 'Paras and
family, of London, visited on Sun-
day with Mr. and Mrs. O'Malley,
and their sister, Mrs, Edna Barr,
who had spent the week at the
O'Malley home, returned to Lon-
don, Miss Virginia Tares is spend-
ing her vacation at the O'Malley
home.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Falconer,
of London, spent the week -end with
her mother, Mrs, R. J. Currie.
Mrs, E. Dow and sons spent Sun-
day with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Dow and .other relatives in Mitchell
and district, The Dow men are
busy this week working at a ce-
ment silo.
Mrs. Robert Alexander, of God-

Mr. and Mrs. Murray Shiell.

is spending this week's vacation at

Mrs. Edwin Smyth.

FANNER AWARD
Murray Gaunt, assistant farm
editor of CKNX, and son of Mr.'
and Mrs, Andrew Gaunt of West
Wawanosh, was awarded a travel-
ling scholarship by the Junior
Farmer Association of Ontario, the
selection being 'made by the On-
tario executive,
The scholarship provides an all -
expense trip to Alberta from .rune
15 to 'JO' 10 and Murray left bIt
jet freer .Melton, accompanied by
ivIiss Fern Tinney of Coburg, who
received a similar award.
They will participate in e, series
of Junior Farmer activities and
tours while in Alberta, A highlight
will be the Young People's Confer-
ence at the University of Alberta.
The group will tour Alberta
ranches, visit Jasper and Banff
and climax the scholarship itinei -
ary by .attending the Calgary
l3tampede,
Murray's activity in 4-H and Jr,
Farmer work over the years have
won him the scholarship. His 4-H
activities were climaxed in 1955 by
having a Queen's Guineas winner.
Murray is presently serving as the
president of the Junior Farmers'
Association of Huron County.

ON SYNODICAL
WdiITECHURCH—The WMS of
the Presbyterian Church met on
Wednesday last at the home of
Mrs, Dawson Craig with eleven
ladies present, and with the presi-
dent, Mrs, Victor Emerson, pre-
siding, and giving the call to wor-
ship. All repeated the aims and
purpose of the society. Mrs. James
McInnis read the Scripture mes-
sage. The meditation was taken by
Mrs, Frank Coultes, speaking on
"The God Who Hideth Himself."
Mrs, Angus Falconer led in the
Glad Tidings prayer. The roll call
was answered by naming a woman
of the BIble and telling about her
life. The offering was ,dedicated by
Mrs. Walter Lott,
Mrs. Andrew Gaunt gave a very
interesting report of the meetings
at the Synodical in Hamilton, Two
of the speakers, Rev, Wm. Hender-
son, and Rev, Geo. Malcolm, are
well-known in this district. Mrs,
Wesley Tiffin gave a reading, "The
Future of the World," Mrs, Frank
Coulter closed the meeting with
prayer, and all enjoyed the social
half-hour, when the hostess served
lunch.
STUDY CANADIANS
AT CALVIN=BRICK
WHITECHURCH — The meeting
Of the United Church Women of
Calvin -Brick United Church was
held Wednesday evening at the
home sof Mrs. John Jamieson, with
a splendid attendance. The theme
of the meeting was "Old and New
Canadians." Mrs. Roy Pattison led
in the warship service, Mrs. H.
Anderson read the Scripture mes-
sage and Mrs. Alan Pattison led in
Prayer. Mrs, Gordon McBurney led
in the Bible study from Acts.
Mrs. McRitchie had charge of the
chapter in the study book, "Can-
ada's Immigration Pollices." , Mrs.
Mason Robinson gave a reading yen,
stewardship and led in prayer for
the success of the missionary work.
Mrs. Gilbert Beecroft, president,
presided for the business period,
Mrs. Roy Pattison, Mrs, Alex Rob-
ertson and Mrs, Harry Cook gave
interesting reports of the recent
sectional meeting held In Bluevale.
The ladies decided to be responsible
for one service during the August
vacational period. Mrs, McBurney
and Mrs. Norman Coultes will try
to find someone to attend the
school for leaders at Alma College.
The meeting was closed with Paul's
benediction to the Corinthians.
W. J. Watt, and with their mother,
Mrs. Watt, who has been seriously
ill in Wingham Hospital during
the past week. Mrs. Geo. Thomp-
son, of Feversham, and other mere--
bers of the Watt family were home
during the week.
The United Church Women are
meeting for their quarterly tea o^ -
Wednesday at the home of Mrs,
Albert Coultes.
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Gaunt, Don-
ald and Helen Currie were in Lon-
don on Thursday and visited with
the foriner's father, Mr. Thomas
Gaunt, in Victoria Hospital. Mr.
Gaunt has been progressing favoute
ably since his recent operation
there.
Mr. and Mrs, Ross Henderson
and baby, Barbara, of Lucknow,
and Miss Norma Forster, of Lon-
don, visited on Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. Walter Elliott,
Mrs, John McKenzie was at Port
Weller on Wednesday and met her
husband when his boat came in last
week,
Mrs. James Laidlaw has teken up
residence in her home in the village
during the past week, and is wel-
comed by the village folk.
Miss Catharine McCarthy, of De-
troit, has been visiting at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Dalton dur-
ing the post three weeks. On Wed-
nesday Mr. and Mrs Dalton went
to London and Mr, Dalton had alt
operation on his eye, in St. Joseph's
Hospital on Friday morning. He
has been progressing favorably.
Mr. Leonard James, of Wnod-
REV. AND MRS. HARRY JENNINGS of Brussels
Anglican Church celebrated their 25th wedding
anniversary on Saturday at the home of Mrs.
Olive May. His mother, Mrs. Harry Jennings Sr.,
Chatham, and sister, Mrs. Rose Hill, Goderich,
also attended. The couple were married in the
Mission Church at Fort Norman, North West
Territories, by the Right Rev. Bishop Sovereign.
Mr. Jennings was stationed there for five years,
On return to Ontario they served parishes in
Windsor, Thedford, Kettle Point, Lucknow and
Brussels. The photo was taken at the wedding

"Hobo" teas this past week which
provided a nice sum of money for
the society.

spent the week -end with Mr and
Mrs. Edward Robinson and. fam-

grandfather, Mr. Arthur Moore.
Mr, James 'St. Marie and Mr, and
Mrs. Raymond St, Marie, Kitch-
ener, spent the week -end at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Myles St.
Marie, and the latter and the child-
ren spent the week -end with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. Lambert,
of St. Catharines, and at Niagara
Falls.
