Mrs, Charles Martin, who had
been ft ptttic'nt in Victoria Hospital,
Loudon, for six weeks, thea on
Friday at the age of 83.
She was. tt native of Wingham.
and was the former Mztry Jute
Burgess, daughter of the late
James Burgess and I' iizabeth
se}iendoo0z't san, 8110 attended public
hinert'.
On April 9, 1902, she married
Charles Martin, who survives. On
April Oth of this year Mr. and Mrs.
Martin celebrated their 60th wed-
ding anniversary at the home of
their son, Clarkson, in .Galt. Sev-
eral people from town attended the
celebration, including their niece,
hit's, Roy Manuel, and Mr, Manuel.
Besides her husband and her son,
she leaves a granddatightt'r, Mrs.
Donald (Lorna) Stuart and two
great grandchildren, Gregory and
Nancy Stuart, She was the host
surviving member of her family.
Mrs, Martin was a member of St.
Andrew's Presbyterian Church and
of the Women's Institute.
Rev, G, L. Fish conducted the
service from the R. A. Currie &
Sons funeral home on Monday at
2,30 p.m., with interment in Wing -
ham cemetery.
Pallbearers were `Con Henderson,
William ,MeKenzie, Joe Schneider,
Fraser Forgle,, Frank Balfour end

Died Saturday
John Baird, 78, died in Wingham
General Hospital on Saturday after
a long illness. He was n resident oi'
R, R. 2, Wingham.
His parents were the late Wiltinm
Baird and Rebecca McGair, of
Turnberry Township, where he wns
raised and later i'atnned.
His wife was the former I3rntrice
May Casemore, of R. R. 4, Wing -
ham, whoa) he 1110rrird June 20,
1909. She predeceased hint in 1942.
Surviving are his family, Mar-
garet 13aird, of Tiverton, Mrs.
Noreen Colwell, or 'Tiverton, 'Mrs.
Mary P, Lewis and Russell Baird,
both of Turnberry, ten grandchild-
ren, and a brother, George.
Sisters and brothers who pre-
deeeascd him were Mrs, 'Elizabeth
:'asenlo'e, Mrs. John Mayes, Miss
Matilda Baird, 'William Alex, Rob-
ert and Edward.
The funeral was from. the R. A.
Currie & Sons funeral home on
Monday afternoon. Ttev. John Hut-
ton officiated.
Pallbearers were three grandsons
Fred Lewis, Jr., Lorne Baird, Len-
ard Baird, and James Campbell,
Isaac Metcalfe and Leslie Bryce.
Carrying the floral tributes were
Rae Lewis, David Atwell, Clayton
Baird and. Douglas Baird,
Internment was In Wingham nem-
etery,
Mrs. Wesley Haskins
Dies in Hospital
Mrs, Maggie Haskins of Howick
Township, widow of Wesley Has-
kins, passed away in Wingham
General Hospital on Monday, June
18. Her death in her 77th year, ter-
minated, a-lpn,gthy, illness,, , •
The deceased was born to 'How-
lett on September 13, 1885, and was•
a daughter of the . late Mr. and
Mrs, Charles Wright. She spent
her early years there and when a
young 'woman married Mr. Has-
kins, in 1910, ,and continued to live
in Howick for the remainder of
her life. She was a devout member
of McIntosh United Church,
Her husband predeceased her in
June, 1954, and she leaves a family
of two sons and three daughters.
They are Ivan and Elmer, both of
Howick Township, Mrs. Lionel.
(Cora) Mahood of Wingham, Mrs.
Joe (Doris) Thomas of Ottawa and
Mt's. Ralph (Edna) Reddon of At-
wood. There is also a sister, Mrs,
Elizabeth Wintie of Brussels, and
other survivors are ]ler 25 grand.

The remains rested at the Moir
funeral home in Corrie until Wed-
nesday, when service was ,ileld at
Meantosh United Churell with in-
ter'rnen1 in McIntosh Cemetery,
'Rev, Harold Pace of Selmore con-
ducted the service.
