event was introduced In 1955.
He urged the three batteries, the

tional survival and corps training.
Experts in Survival
He said national survival train-
ing is required because through.
scientific development weapons
have been produced with destrue.
tive powers beyond the comprehen-
sion. He noted, however, that the
army has become expert in dealing
with survival.
Lieut. -Col. West disclosed that
the summer training at Camp
Crumlin this year will mark are-
turn to corps training and also
contain courses for non-commis-
sioned ranks. He urged the men
to take advantage of these courses
and perfect skill with artillery wea-
pons.
The inspection officer emphasis-
ed the need foe young officers in
the militia. "The militia has much
to offer the young men of Canada,"
Besides Lieut -Col, West, the in-
spection party included Major D.
P. W. Wood, C.D., and Capt. D, W. t
Fulton, also of 18 Militia Group. I

The Wingham. Goodyears, players
and management, regret the em-
barrassment to spectators at Fri-
day night's game when the play
was halted for'sorn.e time until the
Ingersoll coach, George Haves (a
National Hockey League linesman)
was ejected from the field
The pollee were not in Attendance
and had to be called to remove
Hayes from the park, when he re-
fused to leave under the umpire's
orders. The local ball club was
placed in a. regrettable position by
the exhibition of 111 temper to which
the fans were subjected.
The final score of the rveiling
was Wingham 3, Ingersoll 1.
Bill Hotchkiss was hack to hi',
old form for the Goodyears and
allowed only three hits and struck
out 18 batters. Hotchkiss had been
bothered by a sore arm and infec-
tion in. his thumb earlier in the
season.

County Council
Special to The Ativanec-Times
By H. E. Elliott
GODERICH---The Huron County
has adopted a road program, "1962
version", covering 48.5 miles of con-
struction In nine projects. These
are listed in order of deficiency.
The number was cut by the road
committee from 15 considered on
r
points,with traffic o ccount a primary
factor. The work will be done as
funds are available, and may not
be completed until 1970, county en-
gineer James Britnell told council.
rbllowing is the schedule:
1. County Road No, 6 (600 an-
nual average daily traffic), High-
way No, 4 to Winchelsea, commonly
known as the St. Marys road, five
miles, present surface cold mix.
2. County Road No. 4 (1,200 daily
traffic average), Crediton to Khiva
Corner, five miles, existing sur-
face, cold mix.
3. County Road No. 16 (600 daily
traffic average), Brussels westerly,
five miles, present surface, gravel.
4, County Road No. 4 (1200 daily
average), Khiva Corner to Highway
81, five miles, present surface eold
mix.
5. County Road No. 16 (600 daily
,average) Highway 4 to complete
Length, three miles, present surface
gravel.
6. County Road No, 12 '300 daily
average), Highway 86 to Highway
87, near Wroxeter, 2.5 miles, pre- I
sent surface, gravel, This may be L
assumed by the provinee as, a de-
veiopment road.
7. County Road 13 (700 daily av-
erage), Clinton westerly, known as
the Bayfield road, 5,5 miles, to he
completed into Clinton. Present
surface co]d. mix.
8. County Road No. 8 (250 daily
average), Summerhill to Aubar'n,
6.5 miles, present surface gravel.
9. County Road No. 27 (600 daily
average) Nile to Lucknow, 11 miles,
present surface, cold mix.
There are numerous bridge jobs
in addition,
The St, Marys road, the engineer
said, "is failing fast" and the cost
of repairing would he extreme.
The Crediton-Khiva road is in
about the same condition. In fact,
we have about 100 miles in the
same condition, hitt we cannot re-
build all,
"It will take between six and
nine years to rebuild all the ne-
cessary roads, depending on the
funds available" Mr. 13ritnell said,
"Our comity assessment is up, and
If the cost of road construction
does not rise, we may gain and do
more than the miles planned."
Reeve Glenn Webb of Stephen,
road committee chairman, •said in
his report, "Our system of budget-
ing makes it difficult to strike a
five-year plan with any accuracy,
since the construction program us -
