The proceeds of the dance and
raffle will go to the purchase of
an additional ice -making machine
for the hospital, which will acid
greatly to the comfort of the pa-
tients as the hot summer weather
approaches. The winners of the
raffle were Miss Sandra Seddon,
movie camera; Mrs, Rath Ronson,
set of two lamps and an electric
elock, and Miss Nellie Doig, music-
al photo album, Mrs. Kay Fry-
fogie was winner of the door prize.
During the intermission Peter
Norman, president of the Hospital
Personnel Conference Committee,
presented the ice -making machine
on behalf of the staff to Roy Cons_
ns, chairman of the board of dir-
ectors, and expressed the hope that
this would be only the first of many
such gifts to the hospital from
uch undertakings sponsored by
the hospital staff and supported
y the general public.

A GOOD MANY of the old stumps were pulled
from the river bed last week when workmen
hitched on with a Targe bulldozer, The op-
portunity to clear them out came when the
water in the pond was lowered to allow for
repair work to the piers uncler the Howson
bridge. One of the big stumps of unknown vin-
tage is seen above as it was hauled toward shore.
