Mrs. Bill Hotchkiss was present-

agreed to buy a garbage pail for
the ,Scout House. There will be ten
Kincttes attending the Zone 33
interclub meeting in Durham on
April 25th.
Mrs. John Currie presented the
report of the nominating ,commit-
tee for 19(52-u3 which is as follows:

Mrs. Bill Connell; secretary, Mrs.
Jack Walker; treasurer, Mrs. Mur-

The raffle was won by Mrs. Al
Williapts. The next meeting will
be held en April 23rd at the Scout
:house, when the lunch committee
will be Mrs. Murray Gerrie and
Mrs Jack Bateson; program, Mrs.
Jinn Currie• and Mrs. Len Craw-
ford. A delicious lunch was served
by Mrs. Al Williams and Mrs, Eric
Walden.
CAR-CIIECK DRIVE
BEGINS IN APRIL
Previously confined to May, the
annual car -cheek campaign of the
Canadian Highway Safety Coun-
cil, and of a number of the pro -
Huron Coiuttyy bottler, Tuekey
Beverages, of Exeter, won honors
for both sales and •quality at the
national convention of the Can-
adian Bottlers of Carbonated Bev-
erages Association in Montreal this
month. •
The firm was the national award
winner in a competition for the
largest increase in sales per capita
in Canada. It also won a plaque
"in recognition. of a consistently
excellent record in production and
bottling in accordance with the
highest standards."
The presentations were made by
officials of the Charles E. Hires
Co. Ltd,, sponsors of the contests
among bottlers of Hires Root Beer,
to R. Ross Tuckey, general man-
ager, and Arthur Geiser, pta•nt
manager, of the Exeter firm.
Mr. Tuckey, president of the na-
tional association, conducted the
four-day 'convention, He was re-
elected helmet of the bottling indus-
try for a second term.

Check Your Driving, Prevent Ac-
cidents", the drive is being called
"Spring Campaign".
The purpose of the drive is to
make the motorist aware of the
urgent need to cheek his car after
a winter of driving. Dealers, ser-
vice station and garage operators
co-operate fully with the Council
in this campaign which coincides
with a similar drive in the United
States.

BELGRAVE'•--Phe Evening Unit
of the United Church Women mei

• president, Mrs. Ted Fear, was in
charge and ,opened the meeting
with a hymn and the Lord's prayer
in unison, Routine reports 'were -
read. The penny collection was
received and there were eight home
and nine hospital visits to the sick
and shut-in recorded. MIre. Lewis
Stonehouse and Mrs, Laura John-
ston were appointed to send the
supply gifts away,
Mrs. Albert Bieman and her
group were in charge of the study,
"Old and New Canadians," dealing
with the problems of immigrants
coning to Canada. Mrs. Cordon
Pengelly read the Scripture lesson.
Mrs. Kenneth Wheeler react a story
about an immigrant girl from Po-
land. Mrs, Gordon l3osmail read the
meditation and led in prayer. This
part of the meeting closed with a
hymn and prayer,
Mrs, Clifton Walsh presented the
Bible study and Mrs. Laura John-
ston led in recreation. Mrs. Bieman
will be hostess at the next meet-
ing with Mrs. Robert Grasby and
Jeer group in charge of the study.
