Mrs. Herbert Rogers
Buried Saturday
FO.RDWICH--Mrs. Herbert Ito-
gers, who had been ill for several
months, died last Wednesday in.
the Palmerston Hospital.
Mrs. Rogers was born at Cal-
lander on August 8, 1879. She was
a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
George Williams, who moved to
Fordwich when their daughter,
Berdita Jane, was a child.
Mr, Rogers kept a general store
in Fordwich, which lie operated
for 50 0 yrarsr He
predeceased her

about 12 years ago.
Surviving are a brother, Andrew
Williams of Montreal and one L sis-
ter,
ter, Mrs. Norman Cooper of Cal-
gary, Alta,
The funeral was on Saturday
from the Fordwich United Church
with Rev. A. C. Coles officiating.
Internment was in Fordwich ceme-
tery. Pallbearers were Bert Win-
ston, E. A. Schaefer, Kenneth Gra-
ham, Lloyd Simmermaker, Wray
Cooper and Stanley Bride.

Banquet Planned
FORDWICH •The C.G.J.'C. held
the April meeting in the United
Church basement. The meeting
opened with a sing -song, the na-
tional anthem, Lord's prayer, par -
pose and answer: The roll call was
given by each girl giving her birth-
day for a mystery mother. Thirty
girls were present,
Plans were made for the another
and ,daughter banquet to be held
on May 21st. Annie 'Winkel and
Sandra Allan had charge of the
worship service. The study hook
for March was given by Mrs. Har-
old Pollock. The meeting closed

LIFE MEMBERSHIP
TO JAYNE ENGLISH
The spring 't'hankoffering meet-
ing of St. Andrew's Mission Band
was held at 4.15 last Monday after-
noon In the Sunday School room
with a good attendance of mem-
bers, mothers and friends.
John Congram opened the meet-
ing with the call to worship, fol.
lowed by a hymn. The Scripture
was read by John Leitch, followed
by prayer led by Mrs. Leitch. Bon-
nie T''eagan welcomed all present
and an exercise followed. "How
Does Your Mission Band Grow?",
by Jimmy Hastings, Kim Mellor,
Carl Mowbray, Janice MaacTavish,
13111ie Hammond, Sandra Lee Bil-
lie Hilbert and Karen Sutcliffe.
As children with April birthdays
placed their money in the cake,
"Happy Birthday" was sung to
them. A recitation was given by
Susan Isaacs, The offering was
received by Bob McGee and David
Fish and the offering response was
sung in unison.
The members of the younger
group sang '(Praise Him", followed
by a three-part recitation by Gail
Remington, Olive Lapp and Janet
McGee and a four-part recitation
by Ronald Perrott, Roger Irvine,
Tommie Lee and Doug Leitch. The
very small members sang "Climb
up Sunshine Mountain".
Mrs. Scott Reid was invited to
come forward and she presented
Jayne English with a life mem-
bership in the W.M.S. of the Pres-
byterian Church in Canada.
"This Is My Father's World" was
sung by a group of the older
members after which Mrs. Ken
McKague introduced Mrs. G. L.
Fish, who spoke to the children on
"The Love of God". She explained
that tr,.le happiness was found by
taking God into our hearts and al-
ways being prepared to serve Him,
Thanks to Mrs. Fish was expressed
by Mrs. Gordon Sutcliffe and Grace
'Corrin presented her with a small
gift of appreciation,
Following the singing of the last
hymn, Mrs. Fish closed the meeting
with prayer. Lunch was served by
Mrs, Charles Perrott, social con-
vener, assisted by Jane Day, Ann
McKibbon, •Kay Marie Hardie and
Mary Rathbun.

son are patients in Wingham Gen-
eral Hospital, but hope for a quick
return to good health for these la-
