ANOTHER ENJOYABLE FEATURE of the variety concert staged
last Thursday and Friday evenings at the high school were the
selections played by the school orchestra under the direction of
Robert Vivian. The auditorium was packed both nights,

Wingham Hospital last week after
suffering a heart seizure.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elliott, Ruth
and Paul, Mrs. William McPherson
of St. Helens and Mrs. Robert Gal-
braith, Wingham visited on Sun_
day with. Mrs, Gordon Elliott, a
patient in Victoria Hospital, Lon-
don. Mrs. Elliott is progressing
favorably after an eye operation.
Gary Robinson, son of Mr, and
Mrs, Calvin Robinson, was one of
a group of boys from Wingham
High School. who went on Saturday
to Beal Technical School in Lon.

The children of S.S. No. 7 East
Wawanosh had a holiday on Mon-
dy on account of the illness, of
their teacher, Mrs. Gordon Bosman,
Mr. Ton. Robinson spent the
week -end in Toronto and his mo-
ther, Mrs. Charles Robinson, who
had spent last week with her sis-
ter, Mrs. Joe Cassell, returned
home with him on Sunday.
Mr. John Purdon reports that he
saw a crow flying from the bush
last Tuesday. Spring must he
near.
The East Wawanosh Institute la-
dies are planning to hold a euchre
next Monday night in the hall to
make up their share of the funds
required to install water in Lea
hall. They plan to start promptly
at 8.30 and all are invited for come
out and help.
Mr. Thomas Morrison was under
the doctor's care last week, :cutl'er-
ing from an attack of pleurisy.

have been very ill with flu curing
the past two weeks. Miss Karen

Mr. Leroy Rintoul left here on
Monday for Milton, and from
there he was taking fifteen hulls

Wawanosh school. Mrs, Russell

points and Mrs. L. Montgomery'
and Jimmie Robertson were low,

Sharon Reavis and Grant Currie
held high points,
Mr., and Mrs, Alex Robertson and
Mr. and Mfrs, Robert Arbuckle
sponsored the party. Friday eve-
ning the school children of this sec-
tion will sponsor a euchre in the
school to obtain funds for a bus
trip this summer. Mr, and Mrs.
Gordon McBurney and Mr, and
Mrs, Lorne Scott will sponsor the
next euchre in two weeks.

WHITECHURCH--- The W.M.S.
of the Presbyterian Church met on
Wednesday at the hone of Mrs.
Wesley Tiffin with 17 ladies pre-
sent. The president, Mrs, Victo:
Emerson, presided and all repeated
the aim and purpose of the W.M.S..
The theme of the meeting was
"Study to show thyself approved
unto God, a workman that iteed-
eth not to be ashamed". A 'hymn.
was sung and Mrs. Donald. Mc-
Donald led in prayer. Mrs, Wil-
liam Rintour read the Scripture
and led in the meditation; saying
we should study ourselves, people
near us, and world conditions. All
sang "Great King of Nations".
In the business period the. la-
dies appointed Mrs. Andrew Gaunt
to attend the Synodical meeting at
Hamilton on April 3, 4 and 5. Plans
were made for the World Day of
Prayer, which will he held this
year in the Presbyterian Church
on March 9.
Mrs. Wesley Tiffin react a. mis-
sionary letter from Miss Dorothy
Douglas in Formosa. Mas. Der-
wyn Hill led in the Glad Tidings
player. Mrs. Victor Emerson was
in charge of the topic, "Formosa,
where ten million people live on an
island 250 miles by 90 miles and
where the missionaries are assum-
ing the responsibility of evangel-
ism for 747 congregations ano
eight presbyteries".
Mrs, Emerson closed the meeting.
with prayer for the success of thi
work and for the missionaries. The
next meeting will be held at tilt
home! of Mrs. Russell Ross, Luncl•
was served and the social time was
enjoyed by all.

On", with Mrs. Scholtz leading on
the violin. The roll call was 'ans-
wered by (bible verses. Mrs,
Scholtz had charge of the study
book., "Signals for the Sixties" and
spoke of the Church and the
Community, showing that with
fewer 'families on the farms, the
church had greater problems.
Mrs.'G, E. Farrier read the story
of Jeanie, showing how the church
reaches out to young folks in the
cities, trying to influence them for
good. ' Mrs, Charles Martin and
Mrs.: E. W. Beecroft gave readings
and Mrs, Scholtz led in prayer.
Mrs, Millan Moore presided for
the business, giving a report of
the. January meeting of U.C.W. at
Clinton, Plans were made for the
Day of Prayer • to .be held in. the
Presbyterian Church. The TJ.C.W.
Will take over the extra cost of the

day at Metropolitan United Church
in London, Approximately 125 wo-
men attended from the nine :Pres-
byterials in London Conference.

in the church,"
