Sports Up and over It’s over and in for this Brussels Bull sharpshooter when he takes the short route to the net Friday night as the Bulls avenged two earlier defeats by the Goderich Sailors with an 8-0 defeat. Two early goals had Goderich down and out early and the Bulls just kept pouring it on. Bulls register 2 shut-outs, win 3 The Brussels Jr C Bulls last week finished an impressive mini-home stand winning all three games by outscoring the opposition 32-3, including posting back to back shut-outs and holding visiting teams to an average of less than 20 shots per game. Todd Rice made his debut in Jr C Hockey Wednesday night shutting out the Mount Forest Patriots 13-0. Bevin Flett on the powerplay and a hat-trick by Marty Rutledge gave the Bulls an opening period lead of 4-0. Steve Fritz, Jeff Coulter and J. C. Hewitt increased the lead to 7-0 after 40 minutes. Corey McKee, who enjoyed a six point game scored twice while Steve Vanden dool, Andrew Henderson, Jason Kraemer, and Marty Rutledge with his fourth of the game completed the scoring. The Bulls fired 46 shots at the Mount Forest goal while Todd Rice made 13 stops, including an excellent sliding save on a two-man breakaway late in the game for the win. Saturday night Jeff Roy returned to the net to record his first-ever shut-out with an 8-0 romp over his former team-mates the Goderich Sailors. The Bulls opened quickly as Steve Vandendool scored 43 se conds into the game followed 40 seconds later by a Chris Johnson effort. J. C. Hewitt scored twice on the powerplay sandwiching a Bevin Flett market for a 5-0 Brussels lead after one period. Hewitt completed his hat-trick for the only scoring of the second period while Vandendool with this second and Steve Fritz each notch ed powerplay goals in the third for a final 8-0 score. Jeff Roy stopped 22 shots for the win, the first this season against Goderich after two losses to the Sailors. Sunday afternoon the Bulls wait ed until the third period to hit their stride scoring six goals in the game’s final 10 minutes for an 11-3 rout of the Grand Valley Harvesters. Corey McKee lead the onslaught with four goals with ing teams: first, 47 points Jo-Ann McDonald, Bev Stevenson, Myrtle Badley and Mary Ann Miners; second, 41.5 points, Fran Bremner, Brenda Linton, Bonnie Cole-Arnal and Sherry Howatt; third, 30.5 points Sharon Cowman, Jean Bew ley, Mary Sanders and Evelyn Blake. Steve Vandendool adding two. Singles went to Jamie Gibbings, Steve Fritz, Scott Johnston, Scott Bremner, and Marty Rutledge who also chipped in with three assists as did J. C. Hewitt. Brussels led 2-1 after 20 minutes and scored early in the second to increase the margin. However a scrappy Grand Valley club out- hustled the Bulls to the score at 3-3 midway through the contest, before two late period goals gave the Bulls the lead heading into the third. A controversial bench minor assessed to the Bulls at the end of the second period brought the Jrs to life as they played a solid if unspectacular final 20 minutes of hockey for the win. Murray Foxtorr whose early-game heroics kept the Bulls in the game stopped 20 shots for the win. Midget-aged players Scott Bremner, Shawn Jacklin and Scott Johnston all played solidly filling in for a Bulls roster deleted by injuries, exams, and Christmas commitments. The Bulls only game this week is a Saturday night rematch in Dun dalk against Grand Valley.
