Montgomerys celebrate 50th wedding anniversary Friends, relatives and neigh bours gathered at the home of Archie and Edna Montgomery at 273 Drummond St. in Blyth Sunday to help commemorate the couple’s golden anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery were married 50 years ago December 7, in the Anglican Church rectory by Reverend Weeks. After the cere mony they travelled back to the bride’s parents’ home to enjoy a goose supper. Mrs. Montgomery remembers, “It was the seventh of December Morris wants sidewalks in hwy. improvements Morris township has asked the Ministry of Transportation to in clude Belgrave sidewalks in its plans for the rebuilding of Highway 4. At its Nov. 21 meeting, council agreed to notify the MTO that it wished to see sidewalks included from the United Co-operatives building to Parker Drive when the highway is rebuilt in 1992. Council agreed it would pay for the portion of costs not currently in the MTO plans, an estimated $23,000. In other business council agreed to enter into an agreement with Don Carter of Carter Waste Dispo sal of Wingham to pick up the glass from the township landfill site. Mr. Montgomery retired in 1975. They moved to their present home in 1976. Isabel Wheeler informed council that she was willing to sit as the township representative on the Wingham and District Hospital Board. The resignation of William Turnbull as the township represen tative on the Brussels Medical Centre Board was accepted and Betty Graber was appointed for a three-year term. Your Dollars make more Sense... When you shop at home The East Wawanosh History Book Committee has extended its deadline for accepting material for its upcoming volume to January 10, 1990. “We already have in more than 200 family and farm histories, but we want to make sure that nobody is left out of this once-in-a-lifetime book,” said editor Toby Rainey. She added that there are close to 350 families in the township at present, and that material has also been pouring in from former resi dents or their descendents. “Some of our more recent resi dents may feel they are not part of the township’s history and are holding back for that reason,” said committee member Adrian Vos, “but we urge them to get their stories in, too; everybody here is part of our history.” Most people submitting material have included family and farm •photographs, Ms. Rainey said, but added there is also an urgent need for other photos as well, depicting East Wawanosh life and events right up to the present. People are also being asked to submit high-quality color slides of township people, places, events and activities for possible inclusion in a special four-page color section of the book. Slides must be 35 mm. or larger, and all photographs and other material will be returned once the history is completed. With the new deadline, material may be submitted until the commit tee’s next meeting, which will be held at 1:30 p.m. on January 10 at HURON COUNTY Donations gratefully received at: St. Paul’s Anglican Church Centre St., Wingham Thursday toSaturday, December 7-9 Monday December 11 10:00a.m. to4:00p.m. HELP US HELP FAMILIES Local Managers Ruth King, Belgrave Anglican Church Al Myers I REG.
