Bodmin Farms wins premier exhibitor award at Royal show Cattle prices jump at Brussels sale The market at Brussels Livestock Inc. Friday met a strong demand, with cows selling from $3 to $4 higher. There were 371 slaughter cattle and 256 hogs on offer. Good to choice steers sold from $87 to $89 with a high of $93.75. One steer consigned by Gordon Daer of RR 1, Auburn, weighing 1260 lbs., sold for the top price of $93.75 per hundred weight. Eigh­ teen steers consigned by Jack Shiells of RR 3, Wingham averag­ ing 1231 lbs. sold for an average of $87.62 with one steer weighing 1110 lbs. bringing $89.50. Two steers consigned by Bill Sproule of RR 3, Auburn averaging 1330 lbs., sold for an average of $87.25. One steer consigned by Fred Smith of RR 3, Brussels weighing 1200 lbs., sold for $90. Two steers consigned by Clarence McCut­ cheon of Brussels weighing 1290 lbs., sold for an average price of $88.60. Ten steers consigned by Howard Martin, RR 3, Brussels averaging 1205 lbs., sold for an average price of $87.09, with one steer weighing 1290 lbs. selling for $89.50. Thirty-five steers consign­ ed by Underwood Farms, RR 1, Wingham, averaging 1400 lbs. sold for an average of $86.35. Fifteen steers consigned by Stamm Farms of RR4, Kincardine averaging 1185 lbs. sold for an average of $85.71. Good to choice heifers sold from $87 to $90 per hundredweight. Three heifers consigned by Gordon Daer of RR 1, Auburn, averaged 1140 lbs. sold for an average price of $88.50, with one heifer weighing 1120 lbs. selling for $90. One heifei consigned by Bill Sproul of RR 3 Auburn, weighing 1280 lbs. sole for $88. A Simmental cow consigned by Howard McDonald of RR 1, Han­ over weighing 1590 lbs. sold for $63.25. A Holstein cow consigned by Fred Smith of RR 3, Brussels weighing 1520 lbs. sold for $59. A Holstein cow consigned by Moyer Dale Farms of RR 5, Mildmay, weighing 1480 lbs. sold for $57. A Holstein cow consigned by Chuck Durrer, of RR 3, Mildmay weighing 1280 lbs. sold for $56.50. Pigs under 40 lbs. sold to a high of $86.90; and 50 - 70, to $86.50; 70. lbs. and over, to $75. Brussels Livestock will be hold­ ing a special Stocker and Feeder sale on November 21 at 1:30 p.m. If you have cattle to consign please call the sales barn at 887-6461. The Award goes to the exhibitor with the most points in the various market hog classes and Bodmin collected 20 of a possible 23 points to take the crown. Bodmin took the Champion Sin­ gle award with George Procter also of Bodmin, having the Reserve Champion Single.
