Phone 523-4360 The November meeting of Lon- desljoro W.I. was held on Wednes­ day evening, November 8 at the hall at 8 p.m. President Marjorie Anderson opened the meeting with a poem, “The Unknown Soldier”. The Opening Ode, Mary Stewart Col­ lect were read and O Canada was sung. Roll call was answered by “Something you Recycle”. The minutes of the October meeting were read and approved.' Helen Lawson gave the financial statement and correspondence was read. Christmas holiday entertain­ ing at Huronview is on November 29. Beta Sigma Fi is sponsoring a Blood Donor Clinic at Clinton High School on November 22. An invita­ tion was received from Auburn W.I. to attend a fun afternoon on November 21 at 1:30 p.m. Margaret Taylor gave her report of the London Conference held at Embro on October 12. It was moved to give donations to Town and Country Homemakers, Family and Children’s Services and the Blyth Poppy Fund. Pennies For Friend­ ship and collection were taken up. Hazel Reid introduced the guest Sermon tells of apostle Golden time A huge turnout of friends and neighbours helped Genevieve and Tom Allen celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Nov. 11 at Londesboro United Church. The couple have been active in the lives of Londesboro since moving to the village to run the T. B. Allen Feed Mill. Allens mark golden day Friends and relatives attended an open house in the Londesboro United Church on November 11, to honour Mr. and Mrs. Tom Allen on their golden anniversary. Thomas B. Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas C. Allen, Farquhar, and Genevieve P. Kerslake only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walker Kerslake, RR 1, Woodham, were married on November 11, 1939, at the Kirkton United Church parson­ age by the Rev. C. L. Lewis. Their attendants, Miss Audrey Fletcher, now Mrs. Elliott McRo­ berts of Exeter, a cousin of the bride, and the groom’s brother, Dr. Lester Allen, now of Watford, assisted the anniversary couple Saturday in welcoming their guests, along with their family, Gloria and Wayne Jackson of Ridgetown, Karen and Don Scruton and Keith and Nancy Allen of Londesboro. They have also been blessed with nine grandchildren and one great-grandson. Tom began a feed mill in Farquhar in 1937, which was sold when they moved to Londesboro in 1947 and bought the mill from the late Alex Wells. They along with their son Keith operated this and Allboro Elevators until September of this year. Large crowd attends euchre The largest crowd to date atten­ ded the W.I. Euchre at the Hall on Friday evening, November 10. There were 12 tables of cards. Lucky winners were: ladies’ brook, Clinton; men’s high, War­ ren Whitmore. Clinton; men’s lone hands, Allan Shaddick; men’s low, Don Buchanan, high, Dorothy Daer, Blyth; ladies’ lone hands, Marjorie McDougall, Auburn; ladies’ low, Dora Shob- Residents visit Michigan Laura Lyon and Edythe Beacom visited last week with Mrs. Olive McGee at Mason, Michigan. Mrs. Clara Riley visited m Goderich with her sister and hus- ban 1 Ben and Marion Riley last weekend. Following the open house a dinner for family and a few close friends was held at their home, bringing to a close a most unforget­ table day. A joint Service of Worship of Knox United Church, Auburn and Londesboro United Church was held at the Auburn Church on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 10 a.m. The sermon topic was “An Apostle named Paul’’. Huronview Fellowship Time is on Thursday, Nov. 16 at 1:15 p.m. in the chapel. Everyone is wel­ come. The Junior Youth Group meets at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16 at Londesboro Church for a special in-car treasure hunt. The After Supper Kids Club meets on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 7 - 8:30 p.m. This club is open to both boys and girls in Grades 3 - 6. Bible Study is on Friday, Nov. 17 at 1:15 p.m. at Maureen Bean’s, Auburn. The Senior Youth Group meets on Sunday, Nov. 19, 4 - 7 p.m. at Ontario Street Church, Clinton for a pot luck dinner and volleyball tournament for the Golden Sneak­ er. speaker Mrs. Donna White of Brussels. Her topic was recycling. Mrs. Ted Woods thanked her and presented her with a W.I. Cook Book. Marjorie read a poem about wild geese. The meeting closed with the Queen and Grace. Lunch was served by Marg Anderson and Hattie Woods.
