HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Citizen, 1989-11-08, Page 21Obituaries LOUIS VINCENT STADELMANN Louis Vincent Stadelmann, (75), passed away Friday, Nov. 3, 1989 after a courageous two-and-a-half year struggle with cancer, at Victoria Hospital, London. Born and raised in Canton Fri­ bourg, Switzerland, he emigrated to Canada in 1947, and settled in Huron County. In addition to his successful farming career, he serv­ ed as a Meteorological Observer for Environment Canada, receiving the Award of Merit in 1989 for 30 years of voluntary service. He resumed his education at age 55 and received his High School Equivalency from Conestoga Col­ lege in 1972, and then continued his studies at Wilfred Laurier University. After his retirement, he moved to Colborne Township, star­ ted an apiary, and was well-known throughout the community by those who returned year after year for the excellent honey he produced. He travelled around the world as a participant in the Elder Hostel program, and spent his last years in scientific research. He will be remembered and missed by his wife Joan; daughter Susan and her friend Roger; sons Louis and his wife Linda; John and his wife Sheron; and Benjamin and his friend Carol; and grandchildren Christopher, Stephen, Leah, Chris­ tine, Rhonda and Jennifer. By his example, he will always provide courage and inspiration for his entire family. Visitation was held Tuesday, November 7, 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. at the family home, RR 4, Goderich. Friends will be received at a memorial service at the residence Wednesday, November 8, at 1 p.m. In his memory, the family would greatly appreciate donations to the Christian Blind Mission, Box 800, Stouffyille, Ont. L4A 9Z9. JOE MARKS Joe Marks of 2805 Everts Ave., Windsor, died suddenly at Toronto on Nov. 3, 1989. He was 69 years of age. Born in London, England, he married the former Marg Scrim- geour in Blyth in 1942. He had received his education in England before coming to Canada in 1941. He served in the Royal Air Force during World War 2. He was later involved in real estate finance and mortgage banking. Left to mourn his passing be­ sides his wife are three children: Carole of Windsor; Brian of Schom­ berg and Brenda of Kitchener and three grandchildren, Ryan, Regan and Carson; two brothers, Cyril and Victor and three sisters, Rose, Gertie and Lily, all of Toronto, also survive. The funeral service took place November 6, 1989 from the Tasker Chapel of the Beattie Falconer Funeral Home in Blyth with Rev. Lorenzo Ramirez officiating. Inter­ ment was in Blyth Union Ceme­ tery. SAM BEADLE Charles Gordon “Sam” Beadle died in Goderich Hospital on October 7, 1989 in his 63rd year. He was the son of the former Harry and Iona (Fowler) Beadle, and is survived by three sisters Dolores Miller, June Mohring and Carol Beadle. He spent his entire life in Auburn and had lived in the Beadle family home. This is one of the oldest houses in the village, having been built by his great­ grandfather Henry Beadle in the 1870’s and occupied continuously by members of the family. He assisted his father in the butcher business until it closed and later worked in Goderich Hospital. He will be remembered as an ardent fisherman. Funeral services were held at the McCallum and Palla Funeral Home in Goderich on Tuesday, October 10, 1989. Rev. Kathi Urbasik-Hind- ley officiated. Interment was in Ball’s Cemetery, Auburn. MISS LUELLA BREWER Miss Luella Brewer of RR 5, Brussels passed away Nov. 4, 1989 at Wingham and District Hospital. She was born in Morris Town­ ship 88 years ago and worked as a millener. The funeral service took place on Nov. 7, 1989 from the Brussels Chapel of the Bettes Funeral Home with Rev. C. McMillan officiating. Interment was in Brussels Ceme­ tery. RUTH MAGDALENE INGLIS Mrs. Ruth Magdalene Inglis of 4 Grandstand Place, Toronto died at Riverdale Hospital in Toronto on October 28, 1989 after a long illness. She was 85 years of age. Born in Welland, she was the beloved wife of John Inglis of Hanover. She was sister-in-law to James and Vera Inglis of Clifford, Ellen Zufelt of Hanover, Margaret Inglis of Walkerton and Loraine Inglis of Stratford. The funeral service was held Nov. 1, 1989 from the Gorrie Chapel of the Betts Funeral Home with Rev. C. McAvoy officiating. Interment was in Gorrie Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Jim Inglis, Vem Inglis, Ken Inglis, Glenn Inglis, Kevin Inglis, and Mike Inglis.
