Bluevale 4H club holds party On October 30, Bluevale II, The Lean Cuisines 4H group had a Hallowee party at Bonnie John ston’s to end this unit. Everyone had to dress up, so members had a contest to see whose costume was the best. Mrs. Wheeler won as a devil. Members laughed at some jokes, and then played pictionary on a chalkboard. The members were busy making a meal beforehand, so they could enjoy some Tex-Mex Chili, garlic bread, grape spritzers and vege tables and dip. For dessert they had a beautiful Hallowee cake that Joyce Johnston made and decorat ed for the party as well as vanilla ice cream with strawberry and butterscotch sauces that they made at the meeting before the party. Remember crime doesn’t pay Crime Stoppers does. Legion news BY ISABEL JANES November 4 has been declared as Official Poppy Day when the sale of poppies began this year. The theme this year is “Together We Will Remember’’. All of the money collected from the Poppy Campaign, after expen ses, is used to aid veterans and their families. This is the main purpose, aside from remembrance of our veteran’s fight for freedom, of the Poppy Campaign. As well as poppy trays in various locations in the village, the Army cadets of Brussels will also be canvassing as in previous years. Their dedication to the Poppy Campaign is to be commended. Two new films were purchased this year so there are now five films on hand for distribution. These films are distributed to the three local schools at Brussels, Grey Central and Walton. They are also available to anyone interested in viewing them. Each year there is a Remem brance Day service held at the cenotaph at the Brussels Legion followed by a church service and a banquet in the evening. During the service at the ceno taph wreathes are laid in memory of those who fought in World Wars. Last year our expenses were higher than usual as we had to replace many items lost in the fire which left few funds to distribute to veterans and their families. Your support of the Poppy Campaign is appreciated. The ser vice at the Brussels Cenotaph will be held at 10:30 a.m. on November 11. Wear a poppy in remembrance.
