Bronze medal winners
pleased with standing

Cornwall said that they were very
pleased with the standing. “They
were skating in very high competi
tion,” she explains. “The Russian
pair that won the gold were first in
Junior World in 1987 and the pair
who were second were second in
World last year. The fourth place
couple were fourth in World.”
While the bronze medal at this
past competition does not advance
them, Mrs. Wheeler says that it
gives them a “boost in that the
judges remember them.”
Mr. Wheeler and Ms. Menzies
also competed in the four’s compe
tition at Skate Canada, which
teams two pairs. Out of four
groups, they placed second.
