Blyth, Brussels breakins could be linked Trueblood, appears to be a little under Blyth Seniors host pot luck meal OUR ENTIRE SELECTION About 30 Swinging Seniors sat down to a pot luck dinner in the Blyth Memorial Hall on October 25 at 12 noon. After the dinner President John Hesselwood chaired the meeting. It opened with “O Canada” with Ella Richmond at the piano. A very enjoyable sing-song was led by Vera Badley. ‘‘Happy Birthday” was sung to three people with birthdays in October: Mary Wal­ den, Mary Holland and Ida Proctor. The minutes were read and adopt­ ed and the usual reports read. A card was signed by the members to send to Gordon McDowell who is now residing in Huronview. John thanked all who helped with the Zone 8 meeting the previous week and announced the next meeting will be Nov. 22. It was also decided to just have one Blyth Ella Richmond and Ted Mills had the high scores at the Monday night Euchre party at Blyth Mem­ orial Hall October 23. Marie Button and Ernie Brown had the low scores. Roberta Simp­ son and Hazel Reid had the most lone hands. The special prize went to Rena Watt. There were 14 tables in play. At the Lost Heir card party October 25, Erma Cook and Millar Richmond had the high scores. Nora Kelly and Feme Howatt had the low scores. The special prize went to Mabel Riley. There were eight tables of play­ ers taking part. Blyth United marks anniversary NOTICE RESIDENTS VILLAGE OFBLYTH LARGE ITEM PICK-UP Saturday, November4th, 1989 No regular garbage please Blyth United Church celebrated its anniversary on Sunday, October 29 with guest speaker Mr. George Cowan for both morning and evening services. The congregation, greeted by Dorothy and Laurie Scott, enjoyed several introductory duets by Mrs. Phylis Boak at organ and Mrs. Donna Walsh on piano. Rev. Ramirez led in Call to Worship and Prayer of Approach followed by an anthem by the senior ladies choir entitled ‘‘Cleanse Me”. The children’s story, ‘Love, That’s What It’s All About” was told in word and song by Mr. Cowan following which Bev Wal­ den was in charge of Junior Congregation. Janice Peters was in charge of Nursery. As part of the announcements a special congratu­ latory letter was read from Rev. Cecil Wittich, former minister and his family extending best wishes to the church on its anniversary. Passing the offertory plates were Faye and Erin Bolger, Randy Fraser and Marie Toll. Blyth 4-H club makes cookies BY JILL JENKINS The Blyth 4H meeting was held at Jill Jenkin’s house on October 25. Members started out going over meeting one and filled in some blanks. Then they made S’mores - a cookie. They cooked them in the microwave. They were made with graham crackers, marshamllows and chocolate bars. They were very good and everyone enjoyed them. The members did dishes and closed the meeting. A police spokesperson stated that like the Brussels incident there was nothing stolen and it appears that the guitly parties broke into the Blyth Legion and left. OPP are investigating to see if they can tie the two incidents together.
