Mrs. Bernard also said the exhibits were on par with other years. “We did have a decrease in flowers and balked goods, but there were more crafts entered, so it averaged out.” Mrs. Mutter added that the 4-H activities were well-attended as well. Overall, members of the Agricul­ tural Society felt the Fair was successful, however, they remark­ ed that they desperately need help. “We are looking for directors, both senior and junior,” Mrs. Bernard said. “It is just getting to be too difficult for some of these people to work. The men’s group is really down in numbers and the ladies’ gets worse every year as well,” she finished. warmth and her love of life. Travelling with a group on Cherrey Bus Lines they crossed both ways on the Chi-Chee- maun, and report very smooth crossings. They toured the main highways around the perimeter of the island plus both main central highways, as well as many secon­ dary roads. Meals and accommoda­ tions were provided at Gordon’s Lodge on Gore Bay where every room has a picture window facing the bay. They were surprised at the many beautiful and interesting places they were directed to by their tour guide, Mrs. Jacqueline Gordon of Kagawong. As an extra bonus they were favoured with warm sunny weather all three days. Ada Brittain is a patient in St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener. Jeff Boynton who is a member of the Armed Forces (Communica­ tions) has left for Lahr, Germany. He had been home on leave and his parents drove him to CFB Trenton on Sunday to catch his plane. Enroute they visited his brother Jody who is attending Seneca College in Toronto. Tom and Edna Pletch have just returned home from an enjoyable vacation to western Canada. They flew to Calgary, Alberta, then motored with their son Steve and his wife Barbara to Vancouver and Victoria, B.C. This was ail a gift from their family on the occasion of their 40th wedding anniversary. Upon returning home, their family also surprised them with a lovely dinner and social evening with about 36 relatives and friends. Guests attending were from Wil­ lowdale, Teeswater, Etobicoke, Belgrave, Palmerston, Ilderton, Goderich, Seaforth and Brussels area. Mr. Murray Jacklin of Comox, B.C. spent Sunday at the home of his father, Mr. and Mrs. Mel Jacklin before going to Trenton, Ont. for a few days, before return­ ing home to Comox B.C. Also visiting was Barbara and Jay Jacklin of Dungannon. Mrs. Marguerite Sanderson and her son Jamie of New Market, recently returned from a trip to Vancouver, where they visited relatives, and to Whitehorse, Yuk­ on (population 20,000), where they visited her son and his family Brian and Donna Sanderson, Brandi, and Devon. While there they had the oppor­ tunity to visit many other places including Skagway, Alaska. Majestic WI sees film On Wednesday, September 13 the Majestic W.I. held their meet­ ing with 30 in attendance. Lyle Brothers showed an inter­ esting film on “Environmental Homes for injured Birds’’. An invitation to an Agri-Food Week dinner was extended on Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. at the Clinton Legion. Lana Jones of Holmesville 4H Club was awarded the 1989 Huron County W.I. Scholarship. The W.I. were proud that Sandra Marks sponsored by them had been chosen Miss Congeniality at the Brussels Fair. The Area Convention is to be held at Maryhill on Oct. 26 and 27. The Huron County Rally is to be held at the Ethel Community Hall on Monday, Oct. 2 at 9:30 a.m. W.I. card parties will resume on Oct. 2 in the library at 8 p.m. They are to be held on the first Monday of each month. The committee for the card party is Isabel Adams, Ruth Bauer and Jane De Vries. The cost for admission will be $2.00. On October 21 we will be holding a bake sale and penny acution.
