Monitor money
Blyth Legion is celebrating Legion week but it’s the Legion that’s giving the present. The Legion last
week gave a $450 donation to the Bl vth library branch to purchase a colour monitor to go with the new
computer system in the library. Presenting the cheque to branch supervisor Pat Brigham (second

With the deadline for the start of
construction on the addition to
Memorial Hall approaching, nego
tiations to an operating agreement
between the village and Blyth
Centre for the Arts had still not
begun as of Wednsday night’s
Blyth council meeting.
The agreement will govern who
will pay what when the new
addition to Memorial Hall is com
pleted, linking the Hall with the
Centre’s administration building
(the old bank).
“It’s something that should be
done properly and fairly for all
concerned,” Reeve Albert Wasson
said.
Reeve Wasson said it would be
unfair to the Festival to ask it to pay
according to people use but on the
other hand it would be unfair if the
Festival had to pay things like the
utilities bill only three months a
year. “These are things people
have to think about and come up
with a fair way of doing it,” he
said.
The Reeve suggested the village
hire a lawyer to help negotiate the
agreement. Council passed a mo-

agreed. The village merchants had
made it clear they wanted to keep
the show in town, she said.
The two groups agreed to sit
down and negotiate an agreement
at a future date.

John and Vera Hesselwood had a
very interesting bus trip to the
Toronto Dome Stadium last Thurs
day which included a 20-minute
film on the building of the Dome
then a one-and-a-half guided tour
explaining how they change whole
sections of seats to accommodate
either baseball or football and
explained how the four sections of
the roof opens, but it will be closed
from October 1 until May 1. They
were also shown the Blue Jay’s
Press Box and also saw staff laying
astro turf ready for the ball game
on Friday night. It takes 8 hours to
lay the astro turf and it is all
zippered together.
