It is true that there is a bar there, but this is not what the Legion is all about. The Royal Canadian Legion is a club that donates quite a bit of money to many, many, worthwhile causes. Some of these causes are: local public schools, libraries, Cubs and Scounts, March of Dimes, Children Indentification Program, Canadian Cancer Society, and many, many more. Knox United Bible and Prayer group begins this Friday at 1:15 at Rev. Snihur’s at Londesboro. Get well wishes go out to Margo Middelkamp who had surgery last week. There will be a community shower for Janice McClinchey on September 19 at 8 p.m. in the Auburn Community Hall. Ladies please bring lunch. There will be boxes in the store. that the Legion is just a watering hole, please remind them of all the positive things the Royal Canadian Legion does and takes part in. To start off Legion week, there will be an open Euchre tournament on September 19 starting at 2 p.m. This will be held upstairs. On September 21, an Open Lost Heir Tournament will also be held in the upstairs of the Legion. This will begin at 2 p.m. For more information contact Donna Dougherty. In closing, I again invite every­ one to visit our branch and perhaps participate in these various events if possible during Legion Week (September 17 to September 23). Dave Snihur conducted the morning service at Knox United Church and Nancy Park was organ­ ist. Call to Worship was read alternately followed by the hymn “Glory be to God the Father”. Rev. Snihur gave the prayer of approach followed by the Lord’s Prayer in unison. For the anthem Christine Bush of Germany played a violin selection with Nicoli Middelkamp accompan­ ying on the piano. The children’s song was “He is the King of Kings”. The children’s story was entitled “Tim and Tom and the mystery of the black ball.” The hymn “More Love to Thee O Christ” was sung. Rev. Snihur read scriptures from Ezekiel and John. The prayer chorus “Have Thine Own Way Lord” was sung. Rev. Snihur’s sermon was entitled “I am the good shepherd” (Part 4 in the series of the ‘I Am’ sayings of Jesus.’ The offering was received by Stuart Bakker and Ken Ramsey and dedicated. The hymn “Saviour, Like a Shepherd Lead us” was sung. Rev. Snihur pronounced the benediction and the Benediction Response “Go now in Peace” ended the service.
