THE EDITOR,
With Legion Week fast
proaching, (Sept. 17 - Sept.
Blyth Br. 420 would like to extend
an invitation to anyone who would
like to visit our Branch during this
week.
The Royal Canadian Legion may
be viewed by some as just a place
to go and have a drink. It is true
that there is a bar there, but this is
not what the Legion is all about.
The Royal Canadian Legion is a
club that donates quite a bit of
money to many, many, worthwhile
causes. Some of these causes are:
local public schools, libraries, Cubs
and Scounts, March of Dimes,
Children Indentification Program,
Canadian Cancer Society, and
many, many more.
So the next time someone says

sports officials running away from
an issue.
THURSDAY: It’s nice to see money
still talks, Julia was saying this
morning after seeing the candi
dates for the Liberal party leader
ship are going to have a spending
“limit” of $1.7 million placed on
their leadership campaigns.
Obviously it sure isn’t going to be
any little guy who wins this contest.
Oh, said Ward, it likely will be a
little guy that wins, just not a rich
one. “Give them a break,” Ward
said. “A Liberal needs all the help
he can get to win anything these
days. Besides, with the way the
Liberals are used to spending
money, only being able to spend
$1.7 million might be a hardship.”

walks away forgets what he looks
like.
Verses 26 and 27 say “If any man
among you seem to be religious
and bridleth not his tongue but
deceiveth his own heart, this man’s
religion is vain. Pure religion is to
visit the fatherless and widows in
their affliction and keep himself
unspotted from the world.” Faith
without works is dead. It is not how
well we memorize the Bible it is
what we do with what we know that
is important.
Closing hymn of the service was
“Softly and Tenderly Jesus is
Calling.”
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Toll and Mr.
and Mrs. Roy Cope of London.

that the Legion is just a watering
hole, please remind them of all the
positive things the Royal Canadian
Legion does and takes part in.
To start off Legion week, there
will be an open Euchre tournament
on September 19 starting at 2 p.m.
This will be held upstairs.
On September 21, an Open Lost
Heir Tournament will also be held
in the upstairs of the Legion. This
will begin at 2 p.m. For more
information contact Donna
Dougherty.
In closing, I again invite every
one to visit our branch and perhaps
participate in these various events
if possible during Legion Week
(September 17 to September 23).
