It was held on August 12 and 13 this year. •The oldest steam show in Southern Ontario during the middle of August is the Western Ontario Steam Threshers show which has been held in Bridgden for 32 years. About 13 large steam engines are on display here along with three buildings full of crafts. There are many wood demonstra­ tions including a planing mill, a saw mill and a veneer mill which are all run by the steam engines. A good display of steam machine plowing can be witnessed here along with miniature steam trains for the children to ride in. Every day at five, there is the parade of power which displays the huge steam machines and at three every­ day there is a parade for the antique cars. •The largest show of antique tractors, automobiles and machinery is the Ontario Steam and Antique Preservers show in Milton. Over 25,000 people attend this event which features a threshing competi­ tion where men vie for the title of fastest thresher. This show also concentrates on a particular brand of tractor every year. •On at the same time as the Milton show is the Mitchell Pioneer and Hobby exhibi­ tion which is combined with the fall fair in Mitchell. There is a big tractor pull at this event which has old tractors and souped-up tractors competing in their specific classes. There is also a shingle mill and sawmill working with wood at the event. •The last show of the vacation season in Southern Ontario is the Huron Pioneer Thresher’s Reunion held in Blyth on the first weekend after Labour Day. Blyth is especially know for its friendliness, so many people camp over for the weekend and socialize with the locals and the regular visitors of the event. Between chats, there are many displays to see such is a sawmill demonstration, a threshing lemonstration, an area full of crafts, over ten huge steam engines burning with power and many antique cars and tractors.
