THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 1989. 3 busy days at Thresher Reunion Come one, come all, short and tall, big and small because there is a bevy of exciting, intriguing and amusing delights for you at the Huron Pioneer Thresher’s Reunion in Blyth. It all starts Friday afternoon which has been especially designed for the senior citizens and handicapped individuals who may find it easier to maneuvre because things generally aren’t as crowded. For their pleasure, the Huron Strings, an old-tyme group from the Seaforth area will be featured. The audience can get their hands clapping to the Fiddler’s Jamboree which starts at 7:30 p.m. Once again, the famous former CKNX personality, Johnny Brent will be the master of ceremonies. Mr. Brent will also be hosting the Fiddler’s Contest on Saturday which starts at 2 p.m. The fiddlers will be accompanied by Dave Scittich’s band from Hanover. Saturday night is a big night for the fiddlers who can play at the jam session which starts at 6 p.m. Then at 9 p.m. there will be a dance in the arena to the music of the Heritage Fiddlers. Between all these toe-tapping activities, there are many displays on the grounds such as the huge, powerful steam engines and the antique cars. There are usually over 80 pre-war and post-war cars to be seen at the show. There is also a great number of gas tractors to be seen at the reunion. Everyday, there is a parade of all the old tractors which have been restored to their former glory. Other things to see include the small engine display which features model tractors and model steam engines. There are also some interesting collections in this area like old-fashioned canning devices and cream separators.
