Blyth campers get better facilities BY USA BOONSTOPPEL Campers living at the Blyth arena grounds during the Huron Pioneer Thresh er's Reunion will live a life just a little easier this year due to the installation of about eight more hydro and water outlets on the grounds. The main camping area situated directly west from the arena has been outfitted with about five hydro boxes that are also equipped with water outlets. The remain ing hydro and water outlets will be making campers at the extreme southend of the grounds more comfortable. The boxes are situated on the lights at the Radford ball diamond. A new transformer was installed in the large camping area which allowed the installation of the hydro services and is also big enough to handle more electrical outlets said Joe Hallahan, the parking and camping chairman for the Thresher Re union executive. The water will come from the arena supply. The installation of the outlets was done to accommodate the influx of campers and trailers that camp all Thresher’s weekend on the Blyth arena grounds. Last year, the few hydro boxes in the area were overloaded. Since approximately 250 to 300 campers are expected to inhabit the grounds this year, the outlets were installed “Last year, we had about 250 trailers and campers and we are expecting more this year,” said Mr. Hallahan. The outlets, which are permanent fix tures to the grounds, were planned, installed and paid for by the Thresher’s Reunion club, the Blyth Hydro-electric Commission and the Blyth Water Commis sion. The electric and water commission paid for half of their services using a portion of their allocated PRIDE funding. The Thresher Reunion club paid for the other half, explained Helen Grubb, the clerk-treasurer for the Village of Blyth. No other changes have been made towards parking and camping regulations. There is no reserved camping and if visitors want a good spot, they are advised to come early. The cost for using the Blyth facilities is a maximum of $18 for the weekend and $6 for single days. r Business and Professional Directory Wattam’s Construction BLYTH Backhoe & dozer work Septic systems installed or repaired Farm & residential tiling Trenching (Water & hydro lines) BLAKE Septic Tank Service Fast Efficient24 Hour Service CALL RAY 887-6800 GENERAL J.
