Phone 887-6645 People visit in village Work of a pretty p.m. on Melville Couple honeymoons in Poconos WORK - LOWRY A former resident of Brussels, Judy Work of Kitchener, daughter of Graham and Margaret Brussels was married in summer ceremony at 3 Saturday, July 15 in Presbyterian Church. The groom Rob Lowry is the eldest son of Perrin and Marian Lowry, RR 1, Kincardine. Rev. Carolyn McAvoy officiated for the double-ring ceremony which was solemnized amid a setting of floral arrangements. Joanne King was organist. Debbie Gillies and Brian Lowry sang a duet “Each for the Other’’. Debbie sang “Wedd­ ing Song’’ and “Evergreen”. The bride entered the church to the music “Trumpet Voluntary” wearing a gown made by a friend. The floor-length gown of ivory moira taffeta, with a cathedral train, tulip lace bodice with hand sewn pearls. She carried a bouquet of gardenias, stephanotis and free- sia. Nancy Mifflin was honor attend­ ant and Myrna Eby was brides­ maid, both friends of the bride from Kitchener. Kathy Schlattman, sister of the bride and Debbie Gillies, sister of the groom, also attended the bride. They wore goldenrod-yellow, street-length, tiered skirt dress and bouquets of yellow roses, carnations, daisies and purple statice. Brian Lowry, Kitchener, was his brother’s best man. Paul Courtney, Point Clark, the groom’s friend, Kevin Lowry, the groom’s brother and Brian Work, brother of the bride, served as ushers. For receiving guests at the Ripley Community Centre, the bride’s mother chose a dress of periwinkle blue and grey accessor­ ies and a lavendar orchid. Mrs. Lowry chose a dress of plum chiffon and grey accessories and orchid. For travelling to the Pokinos Mountains, Pennsylvania, U.S., the bride wore an eggshell, two- piece suit with peach camisole and bone accessories. On their return they will be farming at RR 1, WANTAOS UQKK ALL THE TIME! Kincardine. Among the guests were grand­ mother Mrs. Alvin Moffat, Kitch­ ener; Mr. and Mrs. Elden Lowry, Kincardine; Ken, Paula, Timothy and David Henton, Alberta; and Marilyn Tschirhart, British Colum­ bia, friend of the bride. Stan Campbell, a former dent, now in California, along with a friend was renewing acquaintan­ ces in the community. Mrs. Jack Clark, Stratford, visit­ ed Mrs. Mac Engel. Rosanne Burdett and children, Waterloo, visited at the same home on Wednesday. Linda Kerley, Gorrie and Jean Dunn, Listowel also called during the week. The ball players, their families and friends had their end of the season picnic on August 27 in Jeschke park with an attendance of approximately 80. Young and not- so-young joined in the games followed by lunch of hot dogs, cup cakes and beverage. It was an enjoyable afternoon. IN charge of the ball games each Monday and Wednesday evening all summer were Lloyd and Beryl Smith, Lois Heart and Janet Engel.
