Mrs. Ida Evans and Mrs. Win
ona Martin took part in an interest
ing “Mystery Tour’’ with Nichol
son Bus Lines escorted by Mrs.
Isabel Campbell who proved an
excellent hostess, the ladies say.
The tour included visits to the
Lambton Heritage Museum at
Grand Bend, a tour of Point
Edward and Sarnia around the
parks and the chemical plants, an
open-air show by Tommy Hunter, a
wonderful cruise on the Due Du'or-
leans boat down the St. Clair river
to Courtright then back around
Stag Island with a luscious break
fast on board and finally to the
Petrolia Discovery Oil Field where
the old wooden “grasshoppers”
and newer iron ones were pumping
oil. The trip, the ladies say, was
very educational.
Kate Wilson and daughter Joan
Merner of Bayfield and Gale
Schmidt of Walkerton visited in
Toronto with Valerie and Jody
Merner. While they were there
they attended the play “Cats” at
Massey Hall and also saw the Blue
Jay and Milwaukee ball game at
the Dome.
Mrs. Audrey Richmond of De
troit, Michigan visited with her
cousin Mrs. Dorothy McCauley on
Monday afternoon, August 21.
Guests at the home of Mrs.
Glenna Stephens this week were
her sister-in-law Mrs. Anna Camp
bell and her nephew Fred and his
wife Elma, all from Newark, New
York.
Carman and Ella Gwyn of Blyth
hosted a surprise birthday party on
Sunday, August 27 at the Callander
Nursing Home, Brussels in honour
of their aunt, Marion Letherland
who celebrated her 76th birthday.
The table was centred with a
beautiful birthday cake made by
Thelma Wilson of Blyth as well as
many flowers from family and
friends. There were 16 guests
present from Blyth, Brussels, Port
Albert, Ashfield, Kinbum, Auburn
and Goderich. Marion thanked
everyone for attending and was so
pleased to see her family and
friends.
Jane McDonald reminds every
one that September is Arthritis

calling at Brussels homes through
out the month.
Chiropractic clinic
opens in Brussels
The Chiropractic Care Centre is
opening in Brussels on Tuesday,
September 5. An Open House will
be held on August 31 at 7 p.m.
Dr. Jim Mason will be at the
clinic Tuesday and Friday
mornings and Thursday evenings
to administer chiropractic treat
ment. Dr. Mason opened the
Chiropractic Care Centre in Lis-
towel after practising in Toronto for
five years. He had been consider
ing opening another office in
Brussels for some time as he felt
there was a need in the community
for chiropractic medicine. Residing
just outside Wroxeter, he also saw
the convenience for the surround
ing areas.
Chiropractic medicine, according
to Dr. Mason, is based on normaliz
ing and correcting the spine and
associated nervous system. They
also work on peripheral joints like
the elbows and knees. Dr. Mason
stresses the fact that he uses a
different technique than what is
normally associated with the treat
ment. “I use an activator gun that
eliminates the cracking and popp
ing noises usually associated with
chiropractic correction. This way
there is not as much trauma
involved,” says Dr. Mason.
One half of the chiropractor’s fee
is covered by OH1P.
Other services administered at
the Centre are Reflexology and

trying to sponsor events of interest
to our members. We need our
members to take a more active part
in Legion activities, as well as to
attend the regular monthly meet

assist the community. We all need
to do our part.
In August, there were three
events, the Fish Fry, held on

tournament held on August 26; and
the annual corn roast held on
August 27.
The Zone Fall Convention will be
