Phone 887-6677 McCalls picnic in Blyth Sunday, August 20 over 60 people attended the annual McCall picnic at the Blyth Lions Park. Just at noon rain hit the area making it necessary to have the smorgasbord meal in the clubhouse. Stephen Burke conducted the short business period with Donna Mitchell reading the minutes of last year’s picnic. The election of officers for next year are as follows: President, Stephen Burke; Vice-President, Doreen McCall; Secretary, Debbie Blake; sports, Adam and Andrew Perrie; tables, Murray and Sherry McCall. A generous donation was made to the Lions Club for the use of their facilities. Sports were conduc­ ted by Susan Buffinga and Marion Young. Prizes were given out for the oldest person at the picnic to John A. Perrie; the oldest married couple to John and Clara Perrie; couple with an anniversary closest to this date went to Bert and Susan Buffinga. Adam Bower was the youngest person present. The afternoon turned out better and the boys were able to have a ball game, while others just visited. Jim McCall will book the Blyth Lions Park for their picnic the third Sunday in August next year. Walton Ball Park hosted a round robin squirt tournament this past weekend. They had two great days of sunshine for this event. Taking part in the tournament was Belgrave, Harriston, Belmore and Cargill. The “B” division was between Cargill and Belgrave with Cargill coming out on top with a score of 15 to 0. The winning team received a trophy and sourvenir hats and Belgrave received crests. The “A” division was between Belmore and Harriston with Harris­ ton winning by default. The winn­ ing team received a trophy and souvenir hats and Belmore receiv- Squirt girls defeat ed crests. There was a most valuable player trophy handed out at the “A” division game with the winner being Joel Martin pitcher for the Harriston team. In the “B” divi­ sion the most valuable playe receive a trophy was John Cepl pitcher for the Cargill team. There were tickets sold oi 50/50 draw with the winner be Marilyn Baird of Wingham. Craribrook Compiled by Mrs. Mac Engel. Phone 887-6645 Bride-to-be honoured The regular morning service will resume on Sunday, August T1 at the usual time of 9:45 a.m. follow­ ing a month’s holiday. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Smith and family enjoyed a recent weekend camping at Conestoga Family Park. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. David Rapson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Gooding, Wayne and Joan Smith, all of Listowel. Visiting recently with Mr. and Mrs. John Vanass and family, were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Van Vugt, of London and Mr. and Mrs. Pete Van Boekel, Innerkip. Mr. and Mrs. W. Strickler spent 10 days camping at Earl Rowe Provincial Park recently. Several- noticeable improvements have been added to this park including a one acre swimming pool. On Wednesday evening friends, neighbours and relatives gathered at the community centre for a bridal shower for Verna Perrie. Verna, Mrs. Perrie and Mrs. Draper were seated at the front where they were entertained by a mock wedding. Verna was then presented with gifts followed by lunch and a social time. Seaforth teams The Walton Squirt girls team defeated the Seaforth “B” team in the playoffs. Now going against the Seaforth “A” team. On Sunday evening they won 13 - 3 over the Seaforth “A” team. They play back in Walton Tuesday evening. International Scene Continued from page 7 tended to level off, we can expect more upward pressure on prices. Phone 887-9250 Ethel Hall Board discusses renovation Tuesday night a meeting was held of the Ethel Hall Board to discuss hall renovation. An open public meeting will be held in the near future for further discussion of the renovations. Carrie and Tina Smith are visit­ ing with Grandpa and Grandma Helen and Bill Dobson. Anne and Phillip Marion have a new baby girl and her name is Bethany. Charlene Clarke is- going to compete in the Brussels Queen of the Fair competition. A large crowd attended the buck and doe for Tony Ward and Angela Bonsma held at the Kin Station in Listowel Friday evening. Has collected many of your photographs during the past gear.
