Morris hears request for closing of road allowance
Paul Gowing attended the Aug. 1
meeting of Morris Township Coun
cil to request that council close
Sideroad 25-26 in the North Part of
Concession 3. Mr. Gowing stated
that there had been numerous
accidents on the unopened road
allowance and he said he would feel
more confident if he owned the
property where some of his
machinery is placed and some
cattle fenced. Council agreed to
look at the location and take the
matter under further consideration.
Building permits were approved

and to Ross Goll of Lot 12 North
Part on Concession 2 for a car port.
A demolition permit was issued to
Doreen Tuplin of Lot 14 North Part
of Concession 8 for the removal of
two silos.
Council asked building inspector
Leo Sanders to check out a building
in Walton that had been moved in
before the building permit applica

In reply to an invitation, a letter
is being forwarded to the Brussels
Agricultural Society stating that
Reeve Doug Fraser plans to attend
the Fall Fair at noon of September
20 for the parade.
Reeve Fraser advised the council
that the Ground Hog Day Commit
tee was to present its case to the
Interministerial Committee on
August 3, in Toronto.
Reeve Fraser also informed
Council that the cement work at the
railroad track in Walton has been
completed.
Following a motion by Clem
McLellan it was decided that the
proceeds from any scrap from the
waste disposal site must be turned
in to the township. A copy of this
motion is being mailed to site
attendants Calvin James and Ross
Goll in addition to Ray White, who

Road Superintendent Lloyd
Michie advised Council that the
crushed gravel was completed and
one more load of chloride was
required for completion. Council
discussed the grass mower and
decided not to cut any more grass
this year and check finances in the
fall of this year. They will then
consider trading the mower.

who was hired for the summer will
